Iran's enemies unsettled by its deal with the West, but Bashar al-Assad of Syria says it is 'a great victory'
The nuclear deal with Iran caused fury in Israel and consternation around the region at the likely increase in influence and resources of a newly enriched Iran.
Most telling was the loudest expression of support. "I am happy that the Islamic Republic of Iran has achieved a great victory by reaching an agreement," President Bashar al-Assad of Syria said in a message to his Iranian opposite number, Hassan Rouhani.
"In the name of the Syrian people, I congratulate you and the people of Iran on this historic achievement."

Why don’t we just sell them our nukes? We’re giving them 18 Billion dollars and they will use that to make their own nukes. Hell, it would have been cheaper to keep the 18 billion and given them a half dozen 20 Megaton bombs in exchange.
Our country is insane. Everyone who voted for the Corker bill needs to be removed from office. That includes Cruz and Paul.
What’s weird?
The trifecta here is Syria, Russia, Iran, soon Turkey. Assad’s statement is totally reasonable.
It may seem weird as our foreign policy is so out of step with reality that we’re making concessions too the devil.
“If you’ve got the money, Achmed, I’ve got the time”
If I were the Israelis, I wouldn’t trust the Saudis as far as I could spit.
Yes, the Saudis would like to get Israel to do their fighting for them, but when its done, they would readily sink a dagger deep into Israel’s back.
I could see the Saudis offering up an airbase for the IAF to use, and then destroying them on the ground after the strike is over. If I were the Israelis I wouldn’t do a thing until I’d tied a nuke around the Saudi King’s neck for insurance.
1. Using Jericho 3 ICBMs with nuclear warheads.
2. Using Popeye Turbo submarine launched cruise missiles with nuclear warheads.
3. A series of air strikes against the Iranian nuclear sites using the IAF operating from Saudi bases. The Saudis (and other Sunni Gulf states) are mortally afraid if a nuclear armed Iran. I can see a marriage of convenience based on “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” There have been rumors of an Israei-Saudi alliance in case Iran gets nuclear weapons.
Personally, I like options 1 and 2.

That’s a given. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, until the enemy is dealt with. We wanted to restart a Jewish state in the Middle East. We could have picked Uganda or Rhode Island. Here we are. Here we stay.
Sorry. That should have been Grand Island.
Many Jews lived in Palestine, and historically did so. We did not create Israel. And why would Jews have gone to Uganda?
The problem is Islam.

When did ISIS show up on FR?

I’ll amend mine. FU.
The Zionist movement in its early beginnings looked to Uganda as a possible homeland. Ultimately, the idea was rejected, as had an earlier idea of starting a Jewish homaland in Grand Island, NY. No replacement for Eretz Yisrael. We chose it. We live with our choice. The problem is Islam and the West’s pandering and appeasement to it.
Given that Uganda was already taken with no prior Jewish presence, I doubt that a new African colony would have been welcomed by the native population, right when colonialism was coming to an end. At least Israel has its own sea access for trade. So in short, I don’t think Uganda would have been less problematic.
