In Fiery Speeches, Francis Excoriates Global Capitalism
NYT ^ | July 11, 2015 | JIM YARDLEY and BINYAMIN APPELBAUM

Posted on 07/12/2015 6:59:14 PM PDT by QT3.14

His speeches can blend biblical fury with apocalyptic doom. Pope Francis does not just criticize the excesses of global capitalism. He compares them to the “dung of the devil.” He does not simply argue that systemic “greed for money” is a bad thing. He calls it a “subtle dictatorship” that “condemns and enslaves men and women.”

Having returned to his native Latin America, Francis has renewed his left-leaning critiques on the inequalities of capitalism, describing it as an underlying cause of global injustice, and a prime cause of climate change. Francis escalated that line last week when he made a historic apology for the crimes of the Roman Catholic Church during the period of Spanish colonialism — even as he called for a global movement against a “new colonialism” rooted in an inequitable economic order.

So you stopped supporting your parish/diocese because of the Pope?

Just an offhand observation:

Jesus was always talking about ‘stumbling blocks’.

Smartass that he was, wouldn’t the creation of a worldly ‘church’ or ‘congregation’ be the ultimate stumbling block, or ‘rock’, that must finally be negotiated to find true faith?

World leaders will use the Pope’s position to hijack the world and push the ‘new world order’.

“Is the Pope Catholic?

Not any more.”

If you think like a liberal this means that we will now be required to furnish and fund indoor plumbing for bears.

Has the new "progressive" Pope even mentioned the huge disparity of child rape cases that are male?
Has he ever mentioned the fact that Catholic seminaries (where priests are trained) have been known for years to have been filled with degenerates and sexual deviates?
Has the press or the Catholic hierarchy even mentioned the word "homosexuality" in conjunction with such a huge amount of small boys and male teens who have been abused by gay priests in the Catholic church?

Considering that the media and the church have a higher than normal proportion of homosexuals in their ranks it's starting to look like a game of protect our own!

While there has been corruption and money-laundering, by some crooks who wormed their way in, the actual purpose of the Vatican “bank” is to handle the money for the Vatican’s charitable activities.

“Closing” the “bank” would not help the poor.

Obviously true, but the logical consequence of the Pope's thinking is exactly that, unfortunately this Marxist cannot see that far ahead.

The stupidest of all stupid clichés is that “the Pope should sell all the Michelangelos and give the money to the poor.”

Who would buy them? A tiny handful of billionaires.

(The Michelangelos would then no longer be in one place, accessible to the public, as they are in the Vatican.)

Then the same stupid cliché-mongers would start up again: “Mr. Getty, Mr. Trump, Mr. Soros, Mr. Slim, etc., should sell the Michelangelos and give the money to the poor.”

And who would buy them? Some other billionaires, ad infinitum. Each time some billionaire buys a Michelangelo, the cry would start again: “Mr. Gotrocks should sell these treasures, and give the money to the poor, blah blah blah...”

The ONLY way the cliché-mongers will be happy is if somebody SMASHES all the sculptures and burns all the paintings, and tears down the Sistine Chapel and St. Peters, etc., etc.

Has anyone ever mentioned that, even with the absolutely REAL scandals that have occurred, the incidence of homosexual predation on children, teens, and young men, among priests has been LESS than it has been among rabbis and Protestant ministers, and a FRACTION of what it has been in government schools?

Oh no, not you again spreading your “flowers” across the FR stage. So tell me, is there no such thing as a bank in the Vatican?

Socialism and progressive politics is ALWAYS number 1. It is the alpha omega of socialists. There can never be a higher power than the state as long as they think ‘they’ will be in charge. Religion and all that God stuff... That’s just a handy tool with which to use to further progressivism. You think all those socialists really believe, or even understand the context of “My brother’s Keeper?”

You are drinking Jim Jones Kool-Aid. Married ministers of the gospel are not the ones sodizing kids. It is only the forced celebates comitting these acts. Peter was married...why aren’t priests?

Vatican city has very rich buildings and a bank to boot. The pope is the pot calling the kettle black.
