When Donald Trump described Mexican immigrants as rapists and drug smugglers last month, Latinos took to social media to express their outrage and urge businesses to sever ties with the billionaire presidential candidate.
In short order, more than 10 organizations canceled their deals with Trump, in what Latino activists are calling an unprecedented recognition of their economic clout.
Latino spending power will hit $1.5 trillion this year, up 50 percent from 2010, according to the Nielsen Co, which analyzes consumer spending trends.
At an average age of 27, the Hispanic population is a decade younger than the U.S. average and just entering the prime of its earning power, market researchers said....

Behold the power of the press and racist rumor generators.
No one ever said the leaders of la Raza were stupid. The Reconquista is not a blind, angry and mindless reaction but well planed by people who know their history.
...”When Donald Trump described Mexican immigrants as rapists and drug smugglers last month...”
ILLEGAL Mexican immigrants. Tell a lie often enough...
Sorry to say that you might be right as to their statements to their reporters...too bad that! Oh well, we can always turn all of them off...geez! Am really becoming a bit discouraged with FOX news though as they seem to be following along with the political correct crowd. That is a real problem for America!
I wonder how much spending power people fed up with illegal immigration have?
I hope that the source of this misinformation makes the appropriate corrections to glaring errors! What Trump said was that SOME illegal Mexican immigrants are rapists, murderers, and drug smugglers. There is plenty of evidence to support his claims. Many Latinos agree with Trump, especially the legal immigrants.
Perhaps the illegal aliens have too much support from the drug cartels, the Democrats, and the current administration, not to mention the GOPe.
The can be NO legitimate outrage at the truth! We shall see where this tempest goes.
I hope Macy’s goes bankrupt.
I seem to remember a bunch of retards around this site p!ssing and moaning about how we had to vote republiCrat in the last election, 'They were our heroes.' and would save us from O'Bozo and his @ssclown circus, well now how did that turn out?
It just seems suicidal to me, to see a company slam the interests of 65 to 70% of the populace to curry favor with 13% of the populace.
A $500 BILLION increase in spending over 5 years? I call bullshit.
“So we’re past the tipping point and two minority groups now control the United States? Good to know, I guess.”
Yep, their message is “suck up to an ethnic group that wants an uncontrolled border or lose the election.”
Exactly. They aren’t doing us any favors.
Yahoo should read its own comments. Most are anti[illegals.
Like this:
Why would an American advertise him/herself as anything but an American? It is un-natural and un-patriotic. It is dividing Americans. Same for the hyphenated- American name trend. I am an American is perfect and in common with more Americans.
Now the illegal alien slick con artists here from Mexico (and our American reporters!) are calling themselves Hispanic or Latino. News reporters are only helping illegal aliens hide here by continuing to refer to them as these sanitized and misleading labels. This is false and delusional advertising/reporting. When I read a headline like this the entire story loses credibility, especially when it doesnt balance the dollars-as in this story- illegals supposedly spend here with the billions that the illegals send back into Mexico each year, or the billions that we spend to help them survive here in every way shape and form-including the charities that have popped up to help them exclusively, or the billions spent on jailing them etc., etc., etc.,
Vote to support Americans and America.
Yet they claim the number has stabilized at 11 million illegals in the country. The math doesn’t work out here.
Well, it’s Saturday evening at 7:21 pm when I post this. I just watched Trumps speech. Wow. He jumped from subject to subject, he wasn’t all that formal, but I watched the live chat and it was incredible. I must admit he was interesting. If he could accomplish half of what he promised, we’d be in pretty good shape.
Food stamps are a large part of media income. Advertising costs are NOT deducted from food stamp purchases.
“On tonight’s newscast our advertisers- who pay all our bills- want us to say...”
If he just closes down the border and gets rid of the criminal and freeloading illegals, we would be much better off than we are now.
Latino spending power will hit $1.5 trillion this year...
“That, of course, is unknowable, since most are undocumented....”
Wrong. Texas and California both have 37% who identify as ‘Hispanic” and most are native born citizens, not illegals.
If they had that much financial steam their own countries would want them back.
He called the enemedia out three times that I counted. That has my attention. Now he is starting to act like a “general who knows himself and knows his enemy.”
