On paper guys like George Bush look fairly decent. They have a record. They may not be our ideal people, but they are better than some, worse than others.

Look what a disaster George Bush was. He handed off a nation double in debt from when he took office. He handed off a complete melt-down financially. He handed of a nation which he had implemented more Leftist policies for.

If we could tell exactly what these guys would do, we wouldn’t wind up with Chief Justices like Roberts. We wouldn’t wind up with Bushes.

I’m not saying I’ll definitely vote for Trump yet, but I’m not saying I won’t either.

Look at what we have tried. Has it worked?

With Trump you may not get everything, but at least you’ll get something.

If he addressed trade and returns jobs to the U. S., it’s a plus. If he addresses illegal immigration and simply secures the border it will be something. If he stops the increase of the federal debt, it will be good.

None of our guys are trustworthy on these matter. NONE!

They lie to us. They double-cross us. They tell us one thing and do another.

I’m dumbfounded as to what your alternative plan is.

One guy says the new trade deal in the works is a bad idea, then votes for supportive legislation.

One guy tells us his immigration policy has changed, and in the same interview proves it hasn’t.

These were our two top picks. Now they are as suspect as John Roberts. I don’t trust any of these people.

I realize what you’re addressing with regard to Trump isn’t without basis. Why do you ignore the other guys who lie to you?

Right now you must be without anyone to support.

So we just hand it to Hillary? Really?

You’ve got some hard questions to answer.

It’s one thing to say you don’t care about the nation going down, but it’s another to think about what all that entails. The riots, the massive death, the vulnerability to foreign powers. Global melt-down...

I took a pass on Bush and McCain. I had hoped it would teach the Republican Party a lesson. It didn’t.

Can we afford to continue down this path without lifting a finger?

I don’t think so. I’m very tempted to give a guy a chance, that seems to at least be able to recognize problems.

BTW: What’s Hillary’s thoughts on gun control?

I’ve argued from the perspective you have now. I know what your thoughts are. I can’t justify going that route any longer.

We’re too close to going under to simply pat ourselves on the back and do nothing because we don’t like some of the beliefs of the people running.

You go ahead and trash Trump all you like. As I said before, you may be ensuring the destruction of our nation by doing it.

What? Did you think my backing Trump was the only way to destroy this nation? LOL You haven’t thought about this very well then.

Ushering in Hillary Clinton is not the answer to our problems. I can guarantee you that.

Using in more go along to get along liars isn’t going to help us either.

Only one guy has stood up and addressed real problems in a way any FReeper could. One.

So you take a pass if you like. It’s your right.

We’ll see what it buys you.

Has he mentioned something like that directly?

Yes he has.

Interviewed by the Chicago Tribune Editorial Board a few days ago for over an hour. Trump speaks about it so see around the 55 minute mark in the Tribune video.

Trump speaks about a private healthcare system; removing state line for healthcare and gives an example for a better deal in another state; taking care of people who are without insurance by making deals with hospitals and says this will mostly be private and not government; and it won't be as good as people paying for insurance, but he believes it will be pretty good. Don't take my word for it - listen around the 55 minute mark in the video. Plenty there to counter the naysayers who selectively listen. Listen to the whole interview it's good.

“You go down the pub
You wear make up
And old dads trousers
Why don’t you tidy up
You talk like a docker but you act like a queer
You drink champagne then complain it’s too dear
You try so hard not to follow any trends
Then you cry in your beer and say you’ve got no friends
But is it any wonder that you’ve got no friends
But it’s not the make up
Or the way you dress
It’s not your appearance, that they all detest
It’s not your manners, that you gotta improve
Ooooo-it’s your attitude.”

Usually, sooner or later, “out of the heart, the mouth will speak.”

I think it’s more a case of people hearing what they want to hear and/or people not necessarily understanding what they hear.

To me, Trump is a breath of fresh air who speaks without script from his heart and says what he thinks regardless of political fallout. I think he genuinely loves America and wants to make America great again. If I don’t like everything he says, I love they way he says it.

However, what I’ve heard him say that’s questionable or contrary to those like me who love liberty and hate big, unconstitutional federal government is:

1) “reach the promised land”
Like Obama and his “hope and change”, Trump hasn’t directly defined what he means by his vision of America’s “promised land” other than the other stuff he talks about.

2) So far, his economic solutions seem to consist of

a) Tariffs against the bad guys, Mexico and China, which have the appearance of doing something positive for he economy, not unlike the appearances accompanying raising the minimum wage. But tariffs are a tax that raise revenue for the feds and artificially raise prices to the American consumer. They are a form of government price control (this time HIGHER prices) and, like minimum wage, are a phony solution which doesn’t attack the REAL problem of government and union interference in our economy.

b) Wants “smart negotiators making economic deals.” Apparently he wants government to negotiate trade deals instead of private business on the free market. More socialist interference with the free market.

c) Wants to repeal Obamacare with...? What? Well, he basically told us when he said, “We (government) will help everyone.” More socialism and socialized medicine in some other form.

So far, you’ve got a guy who’s attacking the illegal immigration and the corrupt MSM head-on without flinching. Gotta love it. But socialism as Hayek said, is the Road to Serfdom, not to the “promised land” most of us envision.

So Trump’s a mixed bag (who isn’t?). People keep looking for a politician savior without realizing they, the American People, are the owners of this great and wonderful country of ours. Our faith and trust must once again turn to God and away from fickle, vacillating, and corruptible man. We must do the best we can to put the best people in office, but WE must once again OWN OUR freedom and OUR Constitution, and take whatever stands we need to on the individual state level against an unconstitutional federal government.

“People keep looking for a politician savior... “

I’m dumbfounded as to what your alternative plan is.

It's very, very simple. Set in stone what is non-negotiable. No compromise on those simple principles. No more political gamesmanship over the most important core obligations of the oath of office.

1. Our natural individual rights come from God, not from men, and those rights are therefore unalienable.

2. Equal protection for life, liberty, and property, must be provided to every person, including the unborn.

3. Marriage, the way God created and defined it, must be protected as a matter of natural law, and national survival.

4. Our right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

5. Our national sovereignty, security and borders must be protected.

6. The required oath of office to support and defend the U.S. Constitution must be fulfilled.

It's not complicated, and it's NOT too much to ask.

If every person who calls themselves a Christian or a conservative would simply reset to this simple plumb line, and refuse to budge for any politician. everything would change, and the republic would very quickly be restored.

But if these these continue to be negotiable, there is no possible way to save the republic. It's impossible.

Thank you for that. I went over to listen to the clip.

Wow. He truly gets it.

This guy is light-years ahead of the pack.

Most of this stuff isn’t even on the radar of the others.

We are so far gone from our Constitution and its concepts that have allowed America to be truly exceptional that any true Patriotic politician that understands America that comes around in this time of, well, desperation is welcomed.

America is about hope.

America and real Americans think about their future and their ability to be more than their current condition.

It’s easy to be cynical and the left has made a boat load of money by creating, perpetuating and exploiting this for their personal gain.

“Everything is broken up, and dances”

Just one.

There aren’t any yet who will fulfill the most basic obligations of the oath.

In other words, there aren’t any yet who even understand what’s wrong with the country, much less how to fix it.

My list of things that need to be addressed quickly are:

Immigration
Trade
National Debt
Military
Obamacare
Jobs

I can think of others, but they are less immediately critical.

Trump has addressed each of these. I can’t think of another candidate that has. I can’t think of another candidate that has touched on more than two of three of these.

None of those things are going to matter if the moral foundations of the republic are finished off.

Which they will be if we keep electing politicians who could care less about those foundations.

People like Trump.

And you eating won't matter either, if you remain a sinner.

You should probably stop eating.

No more silly than what you just stated.

Seriously, your comments were silly, and I think you know it.

Trump addresses six of the worst problems facing our nation and your reaction is to say it doesn’t matter.

That is silly.

But he doesn’t address the things that are destroying the foundations of all of it.

And he almost certainly never will, short of a road to Damascus type personal experience.
