Actor Tom Selleck has been stealing truckloads of water from a hydrant for his 60-acre ranch and avocado farm in California, according to a lawsuit filed by a water district.
The Magnum P.I. star and his wife Jillie Mack are accused of dispatching a white truck to a neighboring valley at least 12 times since 2013 to retrieve gallons of precious water, which is in short supply during the historic drought.
To catch him, Calleguas Municipal Water District has spent $22,000 on a private investigator, the Sun Sentinel reported.
But even after they were issued with a cease-and-desist notice, the lawsuit claims, the Sellecks continued to swipe tankloads from Thousand Oaks to bring back to Hidden Valley in Westlake Village, where they have lived for 30 years.

So they spent $22,000 to catch someone “stealing” probably $50 worth of water?

Pretty sure he didnt dispatch anyone, with instructions to steal water. His contractor likely did this, of their own volition and they should be held responsible.
^ this. but of course Selleck is a republican, so his image must be destroyed at all costs. if Streisand had done this... or Clooney... or Rob Reiner... we'd not hear a peep about it.

Well maybe not, but 60 acres of Avocados is a very big deal.
Now, that IS a whole different kettle of fish.

It is actually a criminal offense to steal water from a hydrant, and the amount he stole a felony, why isn’t Selleck being arrested? Another case of the laws being only for the ‘little people’.

“Why would anybody live in that hell hole, Kalifornia?”
In his case, he’s an actor.
Haven’t watched Blue Bloods, but looking forward to his latest Jesse Stone movie, Lost in Paradise.

Selleck and Mack own a 60-acre ranch with avocado farm in Hidden Valley Amazing that in between wrangling avocados and making salad dressing he still has time to act.

Selleck’s a Republican, so the commissars went after him.
If he’d been a ‘progressive’, as the Marxists are now called, they would have left him alone.
To: jimwatx
Oh, I don’t know. Was he driving the truck? If not, do they have any indication that the guy who WAS driving the truck was doing it on Selleck’s say-so? That’s what you’d need to put him in jail.

hmmm, is Selleck a conservative who may have expressed opposition to one of the Admin policies???

The Magnum P.I. star and his wife Jillie Mack are accused of dispatching a white truck...
If it had been a black truck, they would have left that part out.

Maybe there isn't really evidence of actual theft and Tom Selleck is being slandered. He wouldn't be the first one.
I'm certainly not going to convict the guy based on this report. It's quite conclusory

this is the new function of governments. When they have no case, lie to the media.
How many prosecutors lied to the media and were never sanctioned? Corey, Baltimore, etc.
Nifong is the exception because the accused were all well moneyed.
