Trading in all symbols was temporarily halted on the New York Stock Exchange floor Wednesday due to an apparent technical issue.
"NYSE/NYSE MKT has temporarily suspended trading in all symbols. Additional information will follow as soon as possible," the NYSE said in a statement on its status page.
A technical issue caused the trading halt, Reuters reported, citing a source. Trading stopped around 11:30 a.m. ET.
The Nasdaq reported no technical issues and said it continues to trade NYSE-listed stocks.
"It's been a little bit of a bumpy day. We had some technical problems even before the opening," said Art Cashin, director of floor operations at the NYSE, in a CNBC interview.
First the airlines now the trading floor...
Things that make you go hmmmm
First United, now this. Makes you wonder what’s going on...
It’s that darn Confederate Flag, I tell ya!
First it was United having to ground all planes and now the Stock Exchange. Smells like another computer hack. The storm is getting close, folks.
Almost reminds me of Season 7 of 24....

The Classified Infrastructure Portal firewall (abbreviated CIP firewall) was a system of hardware and software that protected the United States’ major infrastructure systems from outside tampering. Telecommunications, power and water services, and air traffic control were among the systems that the firewall was built to shield. It was developed by a team of engineers at Homeland Security and designed primarily by Michael Latham.
We Been “HACKED!!!!!”
Doesn’t a Tom Clancy book start this way?
Forgive my posting less than a min after yours
No worries...I think at least 4 threads all hit at the same time. :-)
This week they were supposed to add one second to our timekeeping, I wonder whether that has anything to do with this, and the airline issue.
(sorry that was suggested by someone else, but I agree)
bttt
It was last week. June 30th.
Massive sell off was going on.
ALL open orders will now be cancelled: CNBC
Thank you... This NYSE issue is not a normal occurrence.
No doubt. That Confederate flag has been hacking into NYSE for some time, corrupting the economy, I’d bet.
Makes you think of Don Ameche demanding “Turn those machines back on, turn those machines back on” near the end of “Trading Places”, lol.
They just said on TV that The Wall Street Journal is now experiencing electronic difficulties also. Hmmmm.
Yeah, technically Obamanomics is a failure.
Not only technically, but practically, too.
