Cruz: ‘Proud to Defend’ Trump, Expand H-1B Visas For ‘Educated,’ ‘Talented’ Job Creators
Breitbart ^ | 7 Jul 2015 | Ian Hanchett

Posted on 07/08/2015 6:44:04 AM PDT by ConservingFreedom

Texas Senator and Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) declared “I am proud to defend Donald Trump” and promoted his “legislation to increase the number of H-1B visas if there are people who are educated and talented and creating jobs” on Tuesday’s “Laura Ingraham Show. [...]

The discussion turned to legal immigration, Cruz said, “we should improve and streamline legal immigration.” He also discussed H-1B visas arguing that in the status quo, “every year US colleges and universities educate tens of thousands of foreign students who are getting masters and PhDs in engineering and math and computer science, and we’re sending them back to their countries. And as a result, they’re going back to their countries, they’re starting businesses there. They’re creating jobs there, and their companies are competing with us and taking jobs away from us. I don’t think that makes any sense. So, I’ve introduced legislation to increase the number of H-1B visas, if there are people who are educated and talented and creating jobs, the data shows for every H-1B visa holder that comes in, he or she creates 1.7 jobs for Americans here. I want job creations, I want innovators, I want new opportunities for America.” Cruz was asked about Disney’s use of H-1B visas to replace US workers who were forced to train their replacements, he stated that he didn’t know the facts of the Disney case, so he couldn’t comment.

I’m not discounting it, just saying it’s no match for what I have seen in stem education for the last fifty years.

On nationwide issues, nationwide data is more than a match for what any one person has seen.

We’ve still got the best no doubt.

Which is what the study says.

“and we must, there really are exceptional individuals with exceptional talents who weren’t born here”

BS. Out of the hundreds of H1B’s I have worked with only around 2-3 were talented and one other was a genius. The others were below average and theoretical in nature only.
Cut the H1B numbers and make the take a test or have employers interview and hire them overseas and then allow the to come over. That way when the lose their job the go home.

Corporations treat workers like commodities expect for that salary part thingy. There they want to throw out the laws of supply and demand for government intervention to fix the price in their favor.. This is what passes for free market capitalism now a days.

The more you defend the H-1b program the more I have Cruz. It is like the girl with a zit on her face running around say “Don’t look at my zit”. It just makes it worse. But that is who you are.

That way when they lose their job they go home.

That's how it's supposed to work.

I know exactly one case where it did work that way, our company got shut down and one of my colleagues was immediately deported back to the Ayatollah's Iran.

NO ONE has heard from him since.

Funny as I am on record with full support of Cruz/Trump on immigration. YOU are on record with full opposition to Cruz/Trump’s position on immigration. By taking that position YOU are in the camp of Jeb, HILLARY, the GOPe, Dem party, Univision, NBC, etc. It is public record...no straw men, no propaganda, no BS. You have made your point clear and when called out on it, you resort to obscenities and name calling. Maybe you should spend a little more time reading the Christian writings on your homepage.

~Cheers

That’s what my life experience of fifty years and three continents has given me. We have the best just not enough of them.

I don’t know how to manage the cultural shift and the resultant symptoms.

But I would first try to minimize or eliminate the welfare state that we currently have. Imo that’s the big thing keeping numbers of qualified people down. It’s clear though that not everyone believes we’re short. It’s probably different in different areas...geographic and content.

I see a far, far smaller of American mathematics, physics, and science graduates every year.

That will take a generation to fix so what’s to be done in the shorter term? If there IS a shortage, then it makes sense to get someone. If there is no shortage, then there is another reason immigrants are being hired. Most here believe it’s to reduce wages. I agree with that...at least I haven’t seen any other explanation that makes sense to me. So, what to do that will accommodate areas in need and prevent abuses?

It won’t work to punish companies like taxes they’ll just move as soon as they’re able and that screws everyone here. I lean toward rewarding those that do it right...a tax break if your median or avg wages are in the top quintile or something? What can you suggest that would work for areas in need but minimize abuse?

"Some of my posts supporting Cruz:"

Uh-huh. Going back to your first few months here, and hardly ringing endorsements. Then it began to shift to, well, looks like Cruz might be real, but only time will tell. Then for the last few months, nothing but criticism.

I don't know who your candidate is, but from your history I'd guess Rand Paul.

When have you ever posted that you support Cruz?

Some of my posts supporting Cruz: [...]

Uh-huh. Going back to your first few months here, and hardly ringing endorsements.

Move those goalposts.

"Great line! Could Cruz have the Reagan touch?"

"If Ted Cruz runs, it'll be the act of a hero and an optimist."

"I also don't expect him [Cruz] to 'change the GOP' - but I would expect him to govern as a conservative, which is enough to get him my vote."

"Agree 110% [with Cruz's op-ed on the proposed 'Net Neutrality' regulations]."

I don't know who your candidate is, but from your history I'd guess Rand Paul.

Then you didn't even read the links I already posted:

"For Rubio and RuPaul, 'absorbed political lessons' = sold out." - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3210067/posts?page=34#34

“Ted took a principled states-rights position on pot, leaving RuPaul’s only differentiators as gay marriage and open borders ... not remotely conservative positions.” - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/3270913/posts?page=85#85

A tax break deserves consideration. I'd like to hear any candidate say, "The current H-1B laws only pretend to prevent wage depression and only pretend to prevent replacement of Americans - and I intend to get those laws changed to really do what they now only pretend to do."

You are “on record” with strawman nonsense as usual.

Cruz and trump are on opposite sides of the world.

Trump is tightly aligned with the Clintons on every significant issue, which you would know if you had ever paid any attention at all here.

Due to your lack of cognition, Trump can blow smoke into your empty head at will, and you suck it all in.

Stick around fool, and get educated.

I wish you would spend some time reading to find out where Cruz really is on this.

Cruz has to get elected before he can do anything. (so he has to walk gently through the leaves at the big donors’ garden)

After he is in, you’ll be glad he is.

The Dems have no trouble giving their candidate room to maneuver, why do conservatives seem so thick-headed?
