CHICAGO -- When the Fair Housing Act was passed in 1968, it barred the outright racial discrimination that was then routine. It also required the government to go one step further to actively dismantle segregation and foster integration in its place a mandate that for decades has been largely forgotten, neglected and unenforced.
Now, on Wednesday, the Obama administration will announce long-awaited rules designed to repair the laws unfulfilled promise and promote the kind of racially integrated neighborhoods that have long eluded deeply segregated cities like Chicago and Baltimore. The new rules, a top demand of civil-rights groups, will require cities and towns all over the country to scrutinize their housing patterns for racial bias and to publicly report, every three to five years, the results. Communities will also have to set goals, which will be tracked over time, for how they will further reduce segregation.

Seems to me that Fed-zilla can only regulate and threaten States (of which cities are a part). Cities can ignore this regulation unless it comes down from their respective State.
Nope. No punishment at all. Not one bit.
Also code for ‘the government will need to extract a few more hundreds of billions of dollars from the US taxpayer.’
No, you go to where a safe place to raise your family is and create the jobs you need. There are a ton of jobs in Iraq and syria right now. Probably not conductive to a long family life to work there either.
1950 Population 850,000
2010 Population 320,000
Population decline 62%
Should have noted “It is not the color but the culture that degrades.”
I can't wait to see how he finagles in his remaining time; Student Debt Forgiveness, Marijuana Decriminalization Nationwide, Draconian changes to the 2nd Admendment, and forced Gov't Bond Purchases ( some new sort of Bond is not out the question) within your 401k, 403b, 457, etc etc etc.
BOTH are important.
Just refining the debate.
In time the cities will need to be rebuilt.
Plus a proportion of the newly exposed working citizenry will be mugged and killed to even out the unfair disparity of black and white statistics.
Will this be the equivalent of that out of control power hungry or worse Building Inspector on Steroids? Essentially if this HUD function has local reps IMHO that is what it could become. Now you'd have to pedal to both their cadences.....
It’s not the race; it’s the culture.
Characteristics a good culture passes on:
Individual responsibility (#1!)
Hard work
Not complaining
Learning and education
Respecting other’s property
etc.
Characteristics a bad culture passes on:
Collective responsibility (it’s not my fault; feed me; house me; “that’s government’s job”)
Victim mentality
Learning and education are bad
No respect for other’s property
etc.
We want to live with people from a good culture. It’s not race.
Generally I’m of the belief that the current cesspools should be allowed to collapse with their liberals in them and new cities, filed with the refugees (us), built/guarded against invasion by liberals.
We cannot fix liberalism or liberals. We cannot coexist with liberalism or liberals and we better start actively dealing with that fact.
When they run out of money, this will stop. What’ll become of the section 8 residents in cold Minneapolis in winter if the government can’t pay for heat?
There goes the neighborhood! ;)
I agree.
I say to correct you, rebuild what you have, because it will cost more to build new, it will not work. I stand on my position.
Plus I am right, you go where the jobs are.
I smell Agenda 21.
People can and do change, they can go from liberal to conservative, it has happened.
