Donald Trump Unloads on Immigration Critics: ‘The United States Has Become a Dumping Ground’
AP via Breitbart ^ | 6 July 2015

NEW YORK (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump stood firm Monday on his description of Mexican immigrants as criminals.

The businessman, under fire from critics in and out of his party, issued a lengthy statement refusing to back off comments he made in the speech launching his presidential bid last month. In it, he called Mexican immigrant criminals and rapists, prompting several businesses, including NBC, Univision and Macy’s, to cut ties with Trump.

In his new statement, Trump said “the Mexican government is forcing their most unwanted people into the United States” and claimed that in many cases, they are “criminals, drug dealers, rapists, etc.”

He said later Monday, during a charity golf tournament at one of his courses, that his standing in some polls is proof that many Americans share his views.

“I think the polls are a testament,” said Trump, one of more than a dozen Republicans running for president. “In the old days, they used to use a term, `the silent majority.’ We have the silent majority back, folks.”

Polls this early in the race tend to reflect name recognition more than depth of support for a candidate and few in the GOP regard Trump, a well-known TV figure, as a serious presidential contender despite poll standings that may be good enough to qualify him to be in the first GOP debate. Debate guidelines provide for the top 10 candidates in national polling to participate.

One major brand that has not cut ties with Trump is the New York Yankees. The team’s co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner, who organized the charity golf tournament at Trump’s new course in the Bronx, said the real estate developer is “a loyal friend and I am loyal to my friends.”

None of them (except Cruz) has the guts to meet this thing head on. They are all weak and ineffective.
The only problem with Cruz is he has no charisma.

Sorry to say but he's boring to watch and listen to...Trump on the other hand.

It don't believe it's charisma he lacks. It's like being lectured by Ned Flanders.

I have worked with many a Mexicans here illegally. Most were extremely hard working. They were older with families back more in the interior of Mexico. They wanted to work 12 hours a day 7 days a week. Most worked for 2 years sending money home. After making their money they went back to Mexico. The money they went home with was considered a fortune. Some started new business’s. The money they made changed their lives.

UNFORTUNATELY, they are the EXCEPTION.

MOST Mexicans and Central Americans come with NOTHING. No money. No skills. No plan. If they had anything to offer they would find work in Mexico. They simply want a change of address. Some want work. Most want to take advantage of every freebie available.

What is so hard to understand? WHO has the least shot to make it in Mexico? The unskilled, uneducated, those with criminal records, and the like. These make up the majority of the illegal immigrants overrunning the border.

Isn’t that what Trump means?

Sorry but that's just BS. Mexico ain't Cuba.

Perhaps - the big difference is how the Obama admin (and other leftists) are working hand-in-hand with the Mexican "government" to keep the flow of illegals (along with all the murders/rapists/robbers/drug-providers) coming.

Which makes sense given our history of immigration - people tend to emigrate en masse when they are poor and desperate, not wealthy and comfortable.

Indeed, the original 13 American colonies were created specifically to escape the bad conditions in Europe at the time the colonies were founded. It's not a coincidence that the Puritans and Quakers--facing religious intolerance in England--were among the first American colonists. Also, after the Thirty Years' War ended, many Germans living what was the Holy Roman Empire--ravaged by the effects of that war--emigrated to the American colonies of Pennsylvania and New York between 1680 and 1760 to start new lives.

No thanks, it’s not my business and the farmers around here love them. Crime’s pretty low
The Asheville crime rate is higher than the North Carolina average crime rate and is much higher than the national average crime rate.

Someone will have to pay for his room, board, clothing, lawyers. legal bills and medical expenses. If he wants a sex change. to be a transgender someone will pay.
A one way fishing trip westward from SF would defer most cost!
They say he was deported 5 times. That means he entered illegally 6(SIX) times, we know of.

Should get him some votes—but not mine. yet.

We never did see eye to eye, did we? Trump is absolutely correct and I tried to tell you person to person years ago that the immigration and the issues he's talking about NOW were the problem. Didn't get very far and didn't get invited back. Some people NEVER forget things and I'm one of them.

Uh no...they are coming and not only from Mexico. You are a fool if you believe they wouldn’t be coming if Mexico wasn’t sending them.

I’ve heard that refrain before—the 1840’s when the Irish Catholics escaping the Irish Potato Famine showed up, the 1880’s to 1924 when the southern and eastern Europeans showed up, the 1980’s with the Vietnamese boat refugees, and now with the Latinos.

What an insulting comparison. There is no comparison.

The third worlders pouring over our Southern border are doing it ILLEGALLY. The are not wanting to assimilate. The vast majority cross knowing they will get freebies. They are for the most part anti-American and very anti-English. All this is different from the groups you listed.

This third world invasion will utterly destroy our culture and America as we have known it.

We are being turned into a decaying third world sewer.

You are disgusting with the implications in your post -- very incendiary on your part.

I'd almost agree, but it took almost three generations before the descendants of the Catholic Irish immigrants who escaped the Irish Potato Famine finally assimilated to US society. I've read the history of Irish immigration from the 1840's on to the USA and between their illiteracy (many couldn't even read or write the Irish Gaelic language, let alone speak English!) and their Catholic faith (which was enormously mistrusted--many Americans in the 19th Century viewed Catholicism with a lot of suspicion), small wonder why the famous phrase No Irish Need Apply only scratched the surface of the huge discrimination against that ethnic group.

Indeed, the movie Gangs of New York is based on the history of those Irish immigrants, living in some of the worst slums in Manhattan at the time.

"They're" not "sending" anybody. Do you know any Mexican immigrants?

Yes. Living on Buford Hwy NE in Atlanta like I do, I personally know many illegal Mexican immigrants.
