Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) thinks NBC was wrong to cut off its business relationship with real-estate mogul and television personality Donald Trump.
"When it comes to Donald Trump, I like Donald Trump. I think he's terrific. I think he's brash. I think he speaks the truth," Cruz said Tuesday morning on Fox & Friends.
Trump, like Cruz, is campaigning for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.
The day before, NBC said it was dumping Trump because of controversial comments the candidate made about Mexican immigrants. During his campaign announcement, Trump accused Mexico of sending its rapists and drug dealers to America.

From my perspective, we don’t need to waste the dialogue on him. I’d much rather concentrate on someone who is better equipped to make a substantive difference.
Lets see...
Controversy builds ratings.
Rating brings in money.
If her posted that on Free Republic, he'd be attacked.
And BTW, Cruz is pure class. So far, he has supported many of these guys, while few have reciprocated.
Rating brings in money
At the rate things are going the only network who will want Trump's pagents will be TLC. Not sure how much he can squeeze out of them.
Cruz is consistently a class act.
Watch him build up goodwill all over the field among individuals and conservatives against The Machine.
We pretty much get the dialog that the press initiates.
And when Ted Cruz likes someone, they stay liked.
I am for Cruz all the way. But I have seen people like Trump my whole life. In the end they are not worth your time. It is a distraction and counterproductive to be considering him as a legitimate option in my opinion.
I don’t fault people for thinking he offers a fresh perspective, but he’s not saying anything I haven’t ever said myself. He’s just not needed in my opinion.
That said, we each have an opinion and I respect any other conservative’s opinion. That doesn’t mean I have to agree with - or trash it.
‘Ted Cruz has just given your boy some cred’ ping ...
We need to rebel against and reject that narrative. Nobody is going to choose my vote. It will be for Cruz or Walker as an alternate. It will definitely not be for Jeb Bush. Trump is not even on my old fart radar, frankly.
I like Cruz because he speaks the truth and has a moral backbone.
I like Trump because he’s publically saying all the stuff we think, and he isn’t taking any crap.
I am sick to death of taking crap! It’s how America is turning to crap, good people are smiling and nodding thier heads into hell and I am sick of it!
“But I have seen people like Trump my whole life.”
Most of us have not been able to closely observe billionaires, so we are left out of that perspective.
Do the Beverley Hillbillies count?
I guess not; they only had $25 million in ‘62.
Which is weird, but characteristic of FR in election season. Trump, through his brash attitude, is bringing up issues Political Correctness wants to keep hidden. He's a flamethrower and boy, do we need one now.
But the malcontents and trolls are out in force. On a thread last night about Trump's views on immigration, we had several posters chiming in, "Yeah, but what about gay marriage, huh??? What about he used to be a Democrat??? What about his personal life???"
Trump is not going to be the nominee. And he probably knows that. But he is incredibly useful in getting people to at least talk plainly about the issues. That's what he's there for. And there are plenty of people, particularly on the left, who fear Trump for that reason. They would rather take over the country nice and quiet-like.
I’m a Cruz man, but IMO, to the extent that Trump is bashing political correctness, let him have at it.
So, the dominant conservative goes on F&F and is compelled to talk about Donald Trump.
He says positive things.
And this guy isn't on your radar?
He is on the radar of very media outlet and every candidate, their staff and sponsors.
And, I don't think he's spent as much money as many of the other candidates.
Whomever is managing this campaign is simply brilliant.
Helpful or not (to Cruz in particular), that choice of topic was set by the press.
I think Cruz handled the topic well.
I’ll have to assume you are being sarcastic.
