Two days after the Supreme Court affirmed gay marriage as a fundamental right, New York Citys pride parade began, appropriately enough, with a wedding.
Presiding over the same-sex ceremony, which took place in front of the historic Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village on Sunday afternoon, was New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, according to Newsday.
Cuomo, who noted he was officiating his first wedding ceremony, wed Human Rights Campaign staffer David Contreras Turley, 36, and UBS financial analyst Peter Thiede, 35, while a crowd of onlookers cheered and The Beatles Love Is All You Need played, Newsday reported.
The Stonewall Inn is the site of the 1969 riots that are seen as marking a turning point in the fight for gay rights.
Its hard to put feelings into words, Turley told the paper. Even though we had gay marriage in New York, this feels different. I feel different.

New York legalized same-sex marriage in 2011, but this years pride parade was expected to draw one of the events largest-ever crowds, with as many as 2 million people ignoring rainy weather to pack streets from Midtown to Greenwich Village, organizers told CBS News.
Actor Ian McKellen, in a tan suit and rainbow sash, served as a grand marshal for this years parade, alongside director Derek Jacobi and Kasha Jacqueline Nabagesera, a Ugandan activist.

Here’s the gays celebrating in Turkey:

Note: It’s not decent but I won’t call it NSFW since it would be protected speech if I were a lesbian.
Millions?
RE: Millions?
True or false, I can’t change the title.
Anal Lust - just a coincidence?
The participants were, as always, marked by their diversity. There were hundreds of white-shirted Apple workers waving flags, plus floats from Uber, Yahoo and a group billing itself ecosexuals. A man on a leash, and wearing bottomless chaps, waited for his moment to march with his group, the San Francisco Animal Role-Players, not far from a group of women wearing white gloves and ankle-length dresses and billing themselves Church Ladies for Gay Rights.
Dens of depravity.
Next time there’s a big 9/11 attack, I sure hope no one is expecting me to go out and work to raise funds again. I wouldn’t lift a finger this time around. Faggot America can just go up in flames for all I’ll care!
multiple millions, a million or more, 10’s of millions —what difference does it make?
I thought Turkey was rather Islamic. Can’t imagine this went over well.
(whoops, that was meant for MeganC)
Yeah, I don’t think it was “millions”. I heard that today on my local liberal “news”, too...propaganda garbage journalism.
if you are born gay, how can you be proud to be gay??...you had no choice in the matter. I was born male and white...I am stuck with both therefore not proud. I am proud to be an American and a Catholic, and a Hoosier, because I had a choice in each case....I am not proud to be a hetrosexual, it is just who I am...get over it people and get on with the important things in life.
I suspect it will. I suspect it will.
(And everyone is worried about an Islamic nuke attack these days.)
Millions?
I doubt that very much.
Muliple millions more could do nothing more than watch the spectacle in silence, knowing that to protest is an invitation to persecution.
Looking at the pictures that accompany the article, I'd say thousands.
This is what millions looks like.
But the media called this "thousands." Even Bill O'Reilly played that game, relying dishonestly on a 10:00am fire marshal estimate, before the crowds showed up.
Oh, and they ALL picked up their garbage afterwards.

Agreed. This is not my country. I don’t give a fig about it. I still love many of the people who live on this landmass, but the nation I grew up loving is dead. When we sing America the Beautiful in Church this coming Sunday, it won’t have the same meaning it had in the past. I wish we’d just tear out all those patriotic hymns. They have absolutely no meaning anymore. I’ll join Obama in putting my hand on my crotch during the National Anthem.
The song title is "All You Need Is Love." I doubt much else in the article is correct either.
