Here’s a video of the explosion of the unmanned Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon capsule:

Here

UPDATE: The SpaceX rocket seems to have broken apart entirely in what looks like a major mission failure. During the feed, the rocket start smoking and then appeared to come apart altogether about a minute or more into launch. The resupply mission was thankfully unmanned.

I sure hope muslims don't feel any worse about themselves over this

To the contrary, we deliberately do this every so often so the Islamic world can brag about the fact that they have not had any big orbital rocket failures at all, ever!

Their deaths had zero to do with the rocket. I don't think the rocket they were sitting on top of was even fueled up since it wasn't intended to launch that day.

That's not the point. We live in such a risk averse culture was the point I was trying to make. It's ok to break a few eggs to make an omelet.

“There was an overpressure event in the upper stage liquid oxygen tank. Data suggests counterintuitive cause.”

I had suspected as much!

Might be a gaseous helium pressurization tank problem.

Or it could simply be that no one had prayed for the success of the mission...

Looking at the video in slo-mo, the first stage did a great job despite the problem(s) that was/were occurring. It did not stop functioning until it blew up.

“The explosion happen at the highest point of pressure on the rocket? Right?”Yes, it was the point of maximum aerodynamic pressure during the launch.

Actually, maximum dynamic pressure for Falcon 9 occurs about 82-83 seconds into the flight. This problem occurred almost 60 seconds later. The YouTube video keeps displaying the max Q tag well beyond the point where the peak actually occurs.

Nothing quite like flying in the middle of a ball of fire! Note the capsule had fallen free as seen about second 32 of slow-mo video, at one o’clock relative to the engines.
Report of continued telemetry from capsule at this instance.

First stage guidance & stability excellent considering compromise of structure-aerodynamics. From start to debris cloud 1:23 elapsed, yet retained orientation.

Worst case test scenario outside of pad event is Max Q for the Dragon crew version with abort system. The initial evidence of trouble from the video, is well past Max Q dynamic pressure flight point.

I was referring to the many rocket blow-ups, etc.

Oh, I know, but I wasn’t.

I can remember sitting around the TV watching Shepherd and Glenn and others when they lit the candle and started the “space race.”

NASA unfortunately has been relegated to muslim outreach and the boy king is picking and choosing winners, Elon Musk among them.

Sad times.
