Diversity is NOT a strength.
Since this high (on what nobody's certain) court ignores the Constitution it should be dissolved along with the entire network of central government courts.
America desperately needs something new based on what was old. In short, it needs a time for cleansing that would probably take several decades.
This unlawful decision will now be used to bludgeon and attack Christians and Christian culture with a vengeance never seen before.
“America desperately needs something new based on what was old. In short, it needs a time for cleansing that would probably take several decades.”
A very large asteroid (or multiple impact) hit to planet Earth would do the trick!
All large bets are for a massive back lash for the progressives has been placed it’s going to be a very busy summer.
Amerika! The Home of Sexual Deviancy.
When does “gay pride” become a Federal holiday?
Yes, but the fewer homos who figure out how to pass on their genes and reproduce, the better off we all are. Let them have poop sex if they stay out of the gene pool.
Really disgusting endorsement of decadence and hedonism. The Supreme Court is responsible for legalizing abortion on demand and the horrible carnage that followed. Now they have by dictate again enforced the homosexual agenda on the country. The vile molestation of young boys by deranged men has been endorsed. If the Supreme Court’s interpretation of the US Constitution stands, then decent people of conscience will have difficulty taking an oath to uphold and defend such a document.
It will become a ‘feral’ holiday.
Let's face it -- marriage has been in shambles in this country for decades. I found it more than a bit ironic that so many people feel a need to defend a definition of "traditional marriage" that has seen about a 50% divorce rate in this country anyway.
As I said on another thread today, we have more respect for the "sanctity" of a car loan in this country than for a marriage.
You are probably right, this decision is the fruit of an already dead culture...the turning point occurred decades ago.
It's too early to tell if yesterday's ruling was a turning point - that depends on how many people will turn from obedience to disobedience; from respect to contempt, etc.
And you should face it.
Since Roe vs Wade, this court has crapped on the Constitution. This should be the last straw!
If something is on fire (referring to your statement that marriage in America is in shambles) why throw gasoline on it?
Your comments are stale, recycled leftist tripe.
Diversity is NOT a strength.
Correct, strength comes through unity.
Until now marriage has never been a right. This has been to protect future generations from inbreeding. Now it seems this protection is gone.
This courts ruling is not law but the substitution of the opinions and beliefs of the justices in the place and stead of centuries of legal precedent. Homosexual sodomy violates God’s Law. Natural Law and the Common Law. These “Justices” swore to uphold the law when they took office and then ignored the rulings of thousands of learned judges who dealt with sodomy issues over the centuries. The previous judges “declared the Law” and our Supreme Court ignored the law.
We also have to see if the homosexual activists will start suing churches over homosexual marriage. And if other activists sue for polygamy or group marriage.
I’m not a lawyer, so bear with me. But what we have seen in homosexual marriage court cases is a legal issue in which we have changed the definition of a legal term. Marriage had a definition. In order to accomplish the leftist goal here, courts have had to concoct a legal fiction that marriage between a man and a woman was discriminatory. Then, they had to change the definition of marriage. Has this ever happened with any other legal term??
Now that we have changed the definition of marriage through court order, it becomes much easier to legally change the definition of marriage to include polygamy or groups or any configuration of people you can imagine.
Bump
Sure, courts redefine plain English all the time. That is their function. Their sphere of authority is the law, and only the law. Of course, the law claims superiority over all, that's a natural attribute of a tyrant and bully.
At any rate, the law is riddled with terms of art, like "actual malice" (which contains no malice at all, in fact), "arms" (which means arms commonly possessed by citizens after the government unconstitutionally confiscates what it wants to), "taking for public use" (which means taking for private use), and don't get me going on the commerce clause. Heck, the day before he said that SCOTUS was not permitted to write law, Roberts redefined "exchanges established by a state" to "an exchange not established by a state."
"Married", "related" and other terms have legal definitions, and one should expect the legal definition to be nonsense, arbitrary, and unpredictable. Lawyers make big bucks by knowing the humpty-dumpty language of the courts.
“I am reminded of Martin Niemoeller, a German pastor and theologian during the Nazi reign of terror, who said: First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me.
Just to remind everyone here, the Nazis got their start in the gay bars of Munich.
Indeed. The real irony is that these people believe marriage law endows special “rights” to couples.
Soon they will discover that the marriage law of today does not protect anyone’s rights. It merely gives power to any person who wants to take advantage of another person.
Just wait for the “gay divorces” to begin. Then half of these people will be standing in court, and suddenly they’ll realize that they’ve been duped.
