Bristol Palin is pregnant and this is news.
The 24-year-old daughter of former vice presidential candidate and “SNL” punching bag Sarah Palin has spent the last seven years since her mom’s failed bid for the White House making abstinence (and holiness in general) her personal and very profitable cause celeb.
In 2008, 17-year-old Palin’s unplanned teen pregnancy threatened to derail her mom’s White House hopes. But her potentially embarrassing narrative quickly turned to one of resilience and the reality shows followed. Palin appeared on season 11 of “Dancing with the Stars” and in her own Lifetime docu-series, “Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp.”
In 2009, Palin earned $262,500 as The Candie Foundation’s teen pregnancy ambassador but that same year told Fox’s Greta Van Susteren, “everyone should be abstinent or whatever but it’s not realistic at all.”

We hope I need that this woman has been “financially astute” because her days of cashing in in the family name and earning a quarter million from Candies as a role model advocating for abstinence are over.
Maybe next a reality show about trailer camping around Alaska with her friend the “adult model”

That really says it all and any further elaboration would just be gilding the lily.
To be 100% on point, no I don't approve of a single parent raising a child. But, that said, there's a vast gulf between Miss Palin and the welfare queens. Likewise, in insurmountable gulf exists between Bristol Palin and the 'RAT Sandra Fluke, the latter being an actual slut and miserable strumpet.
I just picture them with their noses up in the air as they sanctimoniously type, "I don't own a television".
I can’t get too preachy about this topic. I am a drunk who got religion from hellfire radio preachers and booze in my life at the same time when I was young.
I am a sinner and a hypocrite. The religious subculture Bristol grew up in like my children grew up in is filled with SINNERS AND HYPOCRITES LIKE ME.
When it comes to sex I’ve finally figured out I need to keep it inside marriage involving a man and woman and can’t allow it anywhere else including my imagination.
Its a tall order but I’m finding at this point in my life with real help from God and real surrender of all my moments it can happen.
That’s what works for me in the sex area of my life right now.
So - what’s wrong if people don’t own a television. I don’t own one. Haven’t had one for years.
I had one with rabbit ears but it only shows snow now.

We may be of a different generation but one such preacher who I recall quite well even now was Oliver B. Green of The Gospel Hour. I went to one of his tent revivals back in the early 60s and you could feel the flames of hell as he vividly described the place where unrepentant sinners would suffer for all eternity. Green studied at Bob Jones University, a Bible-based, very Conservative school in Greenville, SC, which gave him credibility to my way of thinking.
Although I'm a member of the somewhat more staid church of Christ, I do miss that old time style of preaching and passion for the Gospel. There was no pussyfooting around when it came to what hell and God's Heaven were all about.
I don’t own a record player (Victrola or otherwise), a CD machine, a cassette player or an 8-track. I do listen to music, mostly Southern Gospel and old-time C&W, but it’s all done on my computer nowadays.
I agree. She didn’t sound very humble about it all. And I get really annoyed when celebrities demand privacy (which translates to don’t criticize my behavior) and then post this kind of thing on social media.
I should hope this girl’s 15 minutes of fame are over as I don’t know what she ever did to earn that in the first place.
This doesn’t reflect on how I feel about Sarah. However, it seems a couple of her children did not learn from her moral teachings. Sarah was already pregnant before she got married. Her oldest’s son’s ex was pregnant before they got married and Bristol is on her second illegitimate pregnancy. I don’t like to call anyone’s child a “mistake” but Sarah’s children didn’t seem to learn that sex before marriage isn’t a good thing and this is one reason why. Marriage protects children.
Sometimes I wonder if Bristol has some unresolved hostility towards her mother with her behavior. I hope the younger daughters fare better.

Oliver Green was one of the preachers I heard some of via radio when I was young and played on air when I worked in religious broadcasting.
Green’s radio preaching was clear and solid.
Another good preacher-teacher I remember was J. Vernon McGee and his “Thru the Bible” series.
The Bible tells it like it is, the problem for me was reading and making it fit my selfish thoughts with selective quotation.
I’ve hated the atheists and liberal church people and the more conservative religious people too in my lifetime for petty reasons related to being a drunk.
I was the greatest of hypocrites, but just because other folk who use the Lord’s name are, doesn’t give me a license to be critical.
In the Good Book its laid out clearly ‘do as the religious leaders say, not as they do’.

Yes indeed, “Thru the Bible” with Dr. McGee was -- and remarkably still is -- a sound, Bible-based program. His style was much more low-keyed than that of Oliver B. Green but both led many to Christ. And to this day, whenever we sing "How Firm a Foundation" at church, I always think of J. Vernon McGee, a native Texas from Hillsboro.
What's the source for that? That doesn't square with the Sarah Palin I know.

All of that is true regarding son Track and daughter Bristol. Nevertheless is there any question Todd and Sarah's children are living far better lives than that of Chelsea Clinton. As for hussein's kids, they're essentially off limits here on FR but I can only imagine the trainwrecks they'll both be in the years ahead.
On top of that, the radiant beauty of the Palin children is self-evident compared to the offspring of recent 'RAT presidents.

Back in the Jurassic Period when I was her age, I was, umm, "active" as well but, as a male, I was not subjected to names like "slut" which others here have applied to Bristol. May she come to repent her sin and become closer to God and become to this unborn child a wonderful mother.
I hope for her that she find a good husband and soon. This fellow, Dakota Meyers, sounds like she has very high standards in that respect. If he were to successfully court her and marry her, maybe that would be an ideal solution for her but that is her decision to make.
I really don’t consider a family’s “good looks” to be an indicator of a moral life. If one is ugly does that make them immoral?
Secondly, I don’t know if Sarah’s children are leading a more moral life than Chelsea Clinton. Do you? I’m not a Clinton fan but when is the last time Chelsea was involved in a bar fight or a party brawl? And she WAS married before she gave birth I have to give her that. I give Bristol marks for being anti abortion as compared to Chelsea.
Sarah married August 29 1988. Her son Track was born April 20th of 1989. I suppose Track could have been born early.
The point is that it is awfully difficult to tell a child not to do what you have done. There is nothing wrong with teaching them about your mistakes but children will often just use the “well you did it” excuse and it’s difficult for parents to refute that.
Whether or not Sarah was pregnant before she was married is besides the point. I have a lot of respect for Sarah. She married the father of her child and has stayed married for all of these years leading a good Christian life. I respect her. Not so much her daughter.
And like the whole Josh Duggar fiasco, once you put yourself out in the public eye, and Bristol definitely wanted celebrity, you also have to take what goes with it. You can’t cry for people to mind their own business afterwards.
To her brother’s credit, he seems to want to stay out of the limelight. He is trying to keep his private life private. Not so much his sister. She has done damage to her mother more than once. Remember her engagement to the father of her first child after he told those horrible lies about her mother? She seems to be a problem child and I would be happy to never hear about her again.
Why are people continuing to cover for Bristol Palin? Is it because she’s a Palin? Wrong is wrong. Fornication is no better than adultery or homosexuality, and she’s the one who first adopted a defiant tone, i.e. no lectures. Fine. I won’t lecture her because she’s not my daughter, but I’m not going to make light of her open, defiant support for sin.
