The pilot of a small aircraft, which is believed to have been registered to famed film composer James Horner, was killed when the plane crashed into a remote area about 60 miles north of Santa Barbara on Monday.
It was not immediately clear whether or not the pilot was Horner himself.

He was super talented and scored numerous films like Avatar and Perfect Storm. He crashed in the nice hills above Ojai.

“Titanic” is probably his most famous score, but I love the work he did on “Field of Dreams”. There aren’t many synthesizer-heavy scores from that period that still sound fresh and contemporary.
I feel like I’ve finally gotten something for the three hours of my life that movie took from me.

Very sad news if he is gone. I’ve loved his music, and have several of the movie soundtracks he created.
Not a fan. Horner did the best he could with the hand he was dealt. Unfortunately, someone thought it was a good idea to let Jim Cameron write dialogue. Mozart couldn’t have overcome that dreck.
I loved it. It works like a silent film.

‘Thought I’d ping you to this. His “Elegy” from “Courage Under Fire” always made me think of Vietnam...and actually helped chase some of the bugaboos away.
I actually thought to write to him once and thank him, but never actually did. More’s the pity.
