The Art of the Con, by Donald Trump
National Review ^ | 21 JUN 2015 | KEVIN D. WILLIAMSON

Posted on 06/21/2015 12:35:47 PM PDT by South40

Conservatives love a faction. Among my friends here at National Review, we have conservatarians (Charles C. W. Cooke), reform conservatives (Ramesh Ponnuru), the secular Right (Andrew Stuttaford), etc. The distinctive features of those camps are, respectively, being comfortable with gay marriage, favoring tax credits for children, and favoring tax credits for the children of gay marriages so long as the money doesn’t end up in the offering plate.

((snip))

Whatever Trump’s appeal is to the Right’s populist elements, it isn’t policy. He is a tax-happy crony capitalist who is hostile to free trade but very enthusiastic about using state violence to homejack private citizens — he backed the Kelo decision “100 percent” and has tried to use eminent domain in the service of his own empire of vulgarity — and generally has about as much command of the issues as the average sophomore at a not especially good college, which is what he was (sorry, Fordham) until his family connections got him into Penn.

Trump, because using the FBI to raid companies looking for foreign goods isn't the same as looking for protected species of wood. Honest injun it isn't. LOL

Trump wouldn't qualify for the first GOP debate if it were held today

So the only conservatives candidates they'll approve of are those who are, "Comfortable with gay marriage, favoring tax credits for children, and favoring tax credits for the children of gay marriages"?

Welcome to the political twilight zone.

One suspects, in the very strongest of terms, that Mister Trump is Hillary's Ross Perot.

After losing primaries (guaranteed), a loud, pot-banging faux conservative Trump could collect enough too-trusting or easily fooled conservatives to support him as an indy candidate (and with a split GOP electorate, hand Hillary the keys to our fine Country).

Most strongly, I suspect (but have no proof) that this might be a clandestine Hillary/Trump arrangement.

NR has been dead to me ever since that little girly boy Rich Lowry took over the reigns. not sure if he’s still editor or not (nor do i care), but Ann Coulter had him pegged correctly.

“and a certain sort of man — forgive me for pointing this out — finds the theatrical preening of Trump’s alpha-male act erotically compelling.”

Another pathetic, disjointed, irrational, meandering hit-piece by Williamson over at NR.

Even takes a swipe at conservative talk radio.

Williamson, do you and Chris Matthews get together with a video of Obama and have some kind of session? Minus the alpha-male act.

This is from a man who whose boss is Rich Lowery.

Ah yes, National Review. The venerable and proud periodical that first endorsed Goldwater, then Reagan IN THE PRIMARIES.

After that they, and K Williamson endorsed, in the GOP Primaries: All bush, and a Romney.

And this cycles they'll endorse another Bush.

Of course Kevin D Williamson has a few issues of his own:

https://www.conservativereview.com/Commentary/2015/06/The-Real-Reason-GOP-Talking-Heads-are-Attacking-Trump

It seems that Jeffrey Lord of American Spectator and Conservative Review...Reagan White House...is calling him a liar and a buffoon.

Fitting.

National Review has been a joke for 30 years. Bought and paid for, mainstream media arm of the Republican Party.

And they aim to Have Bush. And, they don't want him to have to answer any of those tought questions.

"Even takes a swipe at conservative talk radio."

That's because both Rush and Levin publicly derided his first hit piece and made him out to be a biased fool in front of at least 50 million people.

It didn't stop folks from posting another of his "articles" here.

But that's OK. Folks who have conservative beliefs should make their case for and against any candidate of their choosing.

Kevin Williamson is pretty pathetic. Rush mocked him with glee last week on his show. I was screaming. What a tool.

And if Rush told you to don't eat Wheaties you probably wouldn't, right?

I get my information from many sources rather Rush likes them or not. I don't let a talk radio host decide for me. You should try thinking for yourself, you might like it.

You need to lose the hysterics on Trump. He’s just as qualified as any of the other likely candidates. Don’t drink the establishment/uniparty/MSM Kool aid. If elected Trump would 1000% better than the hot mess that’s occupying the White house now.

Liberal "I probably identify more as a Democrat" Donald Trump is no more qualified that the community organizer was. The man is a walking punchline. That you can't see that is one thing. I have faith one day you will.

If elected Trump would 1000% better than the hot mess that’s occupying the White house now.

That is seriously doubtful as he is a liberal also.

I don’t care if he is from New York or New Mexico. Trump is a liberal. No thanks.

I don't think it matters. The closest Trump will ever get to the White House is if Hillary wins and invites him in. But yes, I am a no...I will never vote for any liberal who says, I probably identify more as a Democrat". I can't imagine why any FReeper would.
