Dylann Storm Roof was arrested in Lexington county a couple of months ago.
He was arrested on drug charges.

While the focus here should be entirely on the victims and their families, one can’t help but notice that, from a gun-rights standpoint, this could have been much worse.
Accounts are that the shooter used a .45 and reloaded five times. That suggests that he was shooting a 1911 - a hundred year old design with a low capacity magazine. This demonstrates the futility of gun control. I predict that the focus of opponents of gun rights will be on background checks and banning body armor.

That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with cause and effect, just arbitrary “rules” which seem to be designed to induce learned helplessness (which I am pretty sure was a term coined to describe rats tortured into a state of fear/paralysis in maze experiments).

But the one on his jacket, which also waves at the top left on my FR profile page, is that of Rhodesia, with the Rhodesian crest, with the gold miner's pick, a soapstone bird at top, and the two rampant kudus.

Not at all. It was a war over the natural resources of the country, which included gold, chromium ore, and baked beans, all mined in Rhodesia.
Often, it’s not the drug itself that “causes” the suicide or homicidal urges, but the drugs elevate the mood, the inner psychic energy which allows a depressed person enough motivation to follow thru on feelings he or she was suppressing.(hence two weeks after an anti-depressant is started is a very critical period to watch, especially for suicidal patients!) The drugs also can umask any suppressed schizo affective disease.
A person may be depressed because he or she was suppressing schizophrenic illness which the drug unmasks, hence some schizo’s have their first psychotic breaks when they are treated for what their doctors thought was simple depression. That’s what has gone wrong with the treatments for depression. The attitude is, oh well your family physician can treat you...just take a pill but there is no other careful follow up by qualified psychiatric personnel!
So most times, anti-depressants do what they are intended; the problem is, they strip off the tenuous Dr. Jekyll while revealing the true Mr. Hyde that was always lurking underneath! Depression is often a masking symptom, not necessarily the primary illness!
Not in the days of that *hundred year old design* when most handguns were revolvers commonly carried with five rounds or, at best, six. Granted the other most common self-loading handgun of the day was the Mauser C96 *broomhandle* which usually carried ten, or eleven with one up the spout. But that was a design from the previous century.

Eleven people is more than enough to have provided a much better ending to this story. I think many people have just become passive lumps willing to accept whatever fate deals them. If I’m going anyway, I’m going to do my very best to make sure you go with me!

A common statement, attributed to one mass murderer of unarmed victims was that after the first one, all the rest were free.
Back in 2007 after the Christmastime Colorado Springs church shootings halted by an armed parishioner one of our local ministers asked those in his flock who were armed to stand so that their fellow churchgoers could see who of us would be putting their lives on the line should such a thing come to our area. About a dozen of us did so, following which the pastor then pulled back his coat jacket to let it be seen that he too was stnding with us.
He then read to us the lesson for the day, from the Book of Luke, 22, verses 35-39

lol. They are using him as a negative towards Conservatives. They have said he was part of the Confederacy support group and that he has a “nasty” license plate and that he believed in a lot of conservative thoughts. Yes they are using him for their agenda big time.

Dr. gave me Lyrica for neuropathy. After a week, I was pissed at everyone. snapped at loved ones, thought about suicide, and taking as many with me as possible.
Needless to say, I’ll never take the medication again, but I’ve never felt so helpless, like I was being told to do things by a second being.
Blame it directly on the media’s definition of the gun being evil, not the person wielding the weapon.
They have convinced most of the US that once the gun jumps out you might as well lay down and die, because you don’t stand a chance.
If properly taught, the gun is a tool, no different than a hammer. How many would have sat waited to beaten to death with a hammer.
