Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin praised Jeb Bush on Monday, highlighting his remarks on raising children with special needs.
The comments from Palin, who remains a favorite with some grassroots conservatives, come a day after Bushs official entry to the presidential race.
It was encouraging today to hear Governor Jeb Bush speak directly to an issue that touches so many lives in these challenging times, both culturally and fiscally raising a child with special needs, Palin wrote on her Facebook page.
I'm glad Jeb's life was touched by God's purpose-filled children, and hope he continues with a positive message of inclusion, empowerment and specifics as how we can best advocate for families who would never expect government to do it all, but would like to count on government being on their side, she added.
Bush, whose campaign thanked Palin in a tweet, remarked during his announcement about his efforts as Florida governor on behalf of children with developmental challenges.
We didnt leave them last in line. We put them first in line, because they are not a problem, they are a priority, he said in his speech in Miami.
Palin has traditionally thrown her weight behind grassroots Republican candidates, and Bush is seen as an establishment candidate.
Ahead of his speech, Bush's campaign released a video Sunday featuring a woman named Berthy De La Rose-Aponte, whose daughter is autistic.
He really cares about us. He really cares about people with developmental disabilities, and with all disabilities, Rose-Aponte said in the video. There are people today that are getting services because of what Jeb did.
Palin, whose post included a photo of Bush seen in the video, encouraged followers to keep our hearts open about a potential 2016 Republican presidential nominee.

Dear Mr. Bush,
Your stands on common core, “acts of love” and governing like lbj prevent me from voting for you in good conscience.
Signed
Almost former republican
She gave her statement of approval for yet another RINO. So what else is new? Her parents worked for a public school, and she focused on feminist domestic violence efforts in her state.
Politicians. They’re all politicians.
"Its a shame that shes damaged goods, partly due to her own missteps, and largely due to liberal media savage marginalizing."
What a relief. I'm so glad that you're here to clear up all the confusion.
IMHO....Mrs. Palin has made it abuundantly clear these many years where she stands on special needs children. Is it really necessary for her to high five EVERYBODY who happens to utter a kind word regarding such? Does she have any sensitivity regarding saying things which could be construed as or twisted into an endorsement?
I have loved Sarah for years, but incidents like this clench my jaws. If Dingy Harry or Nasty Pelosi happened to mumble something remotely kind in regard to those kids, would she feel the need to gush over them, too? Enough comity across the aisle for a while. For the next 17 months we need to knuckle down and kick liberal butts!
Once Gov Palin announces her run for POTUS all the PDS effluent on display here will appear even more silly...
I agree....this is a very sensitive issue for Sarah, naturally so. And I remember how some of the media attacked her about her son. So no doubt hearing a politician this time around speak as they did touched her...even if it just happened to be Jeb Bush.
I like Sarah and appreciate her publicly taking principled stands supporting conservative points of view.
However, she has made some very bad decisions, such as prematurely quiting her governorship to run as a candidate.
The left successfully undermined her credibility by pointing out the incongruence of not honoring her commitment to govern.
Then there’s the family brawl matter which painted the family in decline.
It’s nice to have her commentary to rally troops.
However she’s sidelined as a political character.
What the country sorely needs is someone of impeccable character, solid conservative record, and will decimate the Obola. Dems and left for what they’ve done to this country.
Reagan 2.0.
Unfortunately, Boehner, McConnell and fellow RINOs are currently Killing the Republican brand and future electability.
She was praising his work with special needs children. Doesn’t necessarily mean an endorsement.
You certainly have the talking points down pat.
Fair enough. I took it that you were commenting regarding her comment on Jeb.
There is another reason Jeb would have a soft spot for children in distress. His sister, Robin, died of leukemia. Certainly this would have affected his childhood as his parents, George and Barbara, went through the illness and death of this little girl and their efforts to raise awareness of the need for cancer research.
“Robin Bush (1949-1953)
George and Barbara’s first daughter, Pauline Robinson Bush, was born in 1949. Shortly after her brother Jeb was born, three-year-old Robin was diagnosed with leukemia, which was a death sentence in the early 1950s. The doctor suggested that George and Barbara keep their daughter at home, in Texas, as the illness ran its course, but instead they admitted her to Sloan-Kettering Hospital in New York, renowned for its cancer research. Despite doctors’ efforts, Robin died seven months later, on October 12, 1953. In recognition of the lifetime of work that George and Barbara Bush have dedicated to raising awareness and money for cancer research, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston surprised the Bushes in 2004 when they opened The Robin Bush Child and Adolescent Clinic.”
Uh, didn't you read the article?
No, there is no complexity about this. She has a special interest and that is what she focused on. Not all the BS that jeb spouted but “by golly, he’s gonna take care of the special needs kids”. Yeah, real complex.
Hope that was tongue-in-cheek; else, you be an idjit and bit hard on a trolls' attempt to turn the mushy-brained into fools.
This article is acting as if Palin ENDORSED him, which she didn’t. She made a comment complimenting something right he said.
No big deal, except the media wants to make it a big deal, so the cross-eyed RINO wins
you really want to be first in line for something THAT STUPID?
WOULD EVERYONE CALM THE FREAK DOWN?
PALIN DID NOT “ENDORSE” JEB - SHE SAID A NICE THING ABOUT A COMMENT HE MADE
*AND*
THE MEDIA IS BLOWING IT OUT OF PROPORTION TO PROMOTE JEB AND BRING DOWN PALIN AT THE SAME TIME
AND AT LEAST 10 OF YOU HERE ARE FALLING FOR IT~!!
WHEN YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER THEN TO BELIEVE THE LEFTARD MEDIA EVEN WHEN THEY SAY THE SKY IS BLUE.
No, I went to Palin's Facebook to read the original source, rather than read leftist slanted screeds that take words out of context to paint pictures that don't exist.
So, you’re saying she didn’t find jebbie’s support for special needs kids compelling?????
