The American dream is dead, but I will bring it back: Donald Trump announces for President

Donald Trump is running for president. The multi-billionaire announced his presidential plans today from his namesake tower in New York City. Trump, 69, was introduced by his daughter Ivanka as he formally declared his 2016 intentions, descending down an escalator with wife Melania to speak to the gathered crowd. In his remarks he attacked the Obama administration on everything from immigration and terrorism to Obamacare and the job market as he promised to bring back the American dream. He also released his financial information, revealing a net worth of $8.7billion.

'We need somebody that literally will take this country and make it great again. We can do that,' said Trump. I will be the greatest jobs president God ever created 'Ladies and gentlemen, I am officially running for president of the United States, and we are going to make our country great again.'

As for what he could do for the country, Trump said he would be the 'greatest jobs president God ever created.' He then added; 'The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before.'

As for Obamacare, Trump called the program a 'disaster.' 'ObamaCare must be repealed and replaced with something far superior and at far less cost,' he said in his remarks.

Trump also put much of the focus of his speech on the issue of immigration.

The fact is, the American Dream is dead - but if I win, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before. 'It is way past time to build a massive wall to secure our southern border - and nobody can build a bigger and better wall than Donald Trump,' said Trump.

Ok. He’s a businessman. Political contributions are shakedowns and are part of doing business in America.

My position on several things has “evolved” as my site handle might suggest. People change. Is he currently or in the recent past beem pro homosexual marriage or pro infanticide?

As for hollywood connections, that is something he would have in common with Ronald Reagan, Charleton Heston, Andrew Breitbart, Matt Drudge, and Clint Eastwood. Oh and probably Sarah Palin as well.

Not looking to make excuses for him and I doubt I’ll vote at all, but where is the smoking gun? I can identify a couple of smoking guns with Ted Cruz in the last few weeks with TPA and the patriot act II. Where are they with Trump?

If somehow Trump wins the nomination it will be way easier to pull the lever for him than it was for McSplash and Mitt. Trump vs Shrillary would interesting debates.

First anybody who has amassed $9 billion is not a clown.

Second Cruz and Walker are politicians. They are walking the tightrope and have to bend a knee to get the big money donors to finance them for a presidential run. They have to somewhat tow the party line to keep the RNC on their side.

My guess is Cruz has bended a knee on this TPA thing and he’s probably come to regret it though cannot admit it. He only has $40 million and its not enough to win. I can’t really even blame him he needs the money. That’s the whole problem with our system. At some point they all have to sell a piece of their soul for the money and Trump is right that’s why nothing really ever changes.

Again, he is a businessman and political donations are shakedowns. You pay or else. None of those contributions were even mildly significant for a person of his wealth.

"To clarify..."

Your message is not lost on me.

Currently the guy who doesn't want the fence has to BUY a politician...as the vast majority of his constituents want one.

In the case of Trump it would have to be extortion.

I'm thinking Trump would not take kindly to that and the anti-fence guy is likely aware of it.

He’s had to make a lot of good decisions in his life to amass that kind of wealth. Trump is getting my vote...and I had to work my way through Perry to Cruz and on to Trump.

“If Congress declares that unborn children are subject to 14th Amendment protection, then the courts could not legitimately overturn that determination.”

But for the most part, those a$$holes are too busy feathering their own nests to worry about the sanctity of life and stuff like that. Just look at the “GOP Leadership” “meeting out punishment” to the Congressmen who didn’t want to go along with that “leadership.” Some former VP said that the VP’s office wasn’t worth a cup of spit. Well that goes for the Congress too.

And you try to call me on the carpet for not voting for these clowns?

You try to blame me for Republicans losing elections when they give us absolutely no reason to vote for them?

We have to get a conservative in the white house. A real conservative, not a “fiscal” conservative.

I couldn’t call you on the carpet because I don’t even know you!! You must have me mixed up with some of the others.

I'm still waiting for a list of things that the GOP has done for conservatives when they WON the elections.

The GOP has been quietly working for years to legalize illegal aliens, the GOP was working like crazy last week to give Obama his trade bill, why should we even care who wins elections.

As I said earlier, it's really no different than the factional infighting among the high-ranking Communists during the Soviet era. Some Politburo members were stripped of power, some got very rich, but the life of the average Russian sucked no matter who was in charge.

With regard to Donald Trump, he definitely falls into the "court jester" category of presidential candidates.

However, he's got the money and the celebrity to get his message heard. And for the most part, I like the message.

If all he accomplishes with this presidential bid is to keep the other candidates on their toes and move the discussion to the right, than I'm thinking this could be a fun ride for all of us.

Sure but Barry aint running and trump made multiple donations to his most likely direct competition. Hillary. So does that raise a red flag with anyone?

Trump gave just over $300k to the Democrats and about $290k to the Republicans in the last 10 years (based on what Rush Limbaugh said on the radio today.)

Look, I'm not for Trump. Not going to defend the guy and I'm not going to tout him either.

If I had to compare who cared more about the country between Trump and ODumbo in the White House, I think like most other reasonably intelligent people I'd pick Trump.

That however DOES NOT MEAN I want him for President.

I'll never vote for a Democrat and never have, but the more I'm learning about the announced (and soon to be announced) Republican Candidates, I'm probably sitting at home in November of 2016. That'll be the first election since I was eligible to vote in 1980 that I'll have missed on the Federal, State, County and Township level.

That's saying something about the horse-shit candidates the Republican's are fielding right now.

I doubt I’ll vote at all....see tagline. However, I am trying to keep an open mind. Trump is saying the right things right now. We’ll see if he continues.

A real conservative, not a “fiscal” conservative.

I've said this before and don't have time to go through the explanation again, but, as you know, most of our fiscal problems are the direct result of killing 60 MILLION+ taxpayers and consumers.

George H.W. Bush started out as a pro-abortion "fiscal conservative" and look how his, "Read my lips: no new taxes" pledge worked out.
