Anne Nicol Gaylor, one of the founders of the Freedom From Religion Foundation, died Sunday.
Gaylor, 88, formed the group with her daughter Annie Laurie Gaylor in 1976 in Madison and is credited with expanding the small group to a large national association of atheists and agnostics while serving as its president from 1978 to 2004.
The foundation often courted controversy and filed lawsuits challenging religion in schools, government and social programs.
She died at a Fitchburg hospice after she was hospitalized May 30 following a fall at her Madison apartment, according to a news release posted Monday on the Freedom From Religion Foundation website.

Please refer to post 36.How do you read those passages in conjunction with, for example, Ezekiel 18? (I can think of a few ways in which you may do so, but they may not be what you had in mind.)

No one really knows the place of her departed soul Unless she made a last minute conversion, the Bible tells us she is where she chose to be, separated from God in Hell. That's where all who don't believe & accept Jesus as their lord & saviour end up.

The death of any person encourages some thinking about how they lived and what they considered important. No one really knows the place of her departed soul, but we do know the the priorities her life. I cant celebrate her passing, but neither can I celebrate her life. A commendable Christian attitude, thank you.

God loves every soul regardless of their thinking. Bitter and defensive remarks do not do Christianity justice.

No. You’re fine. If there weren’t dissenting views, this wouldn’t be a discussion forum.
I was just trying to make the point that her death is a tragedy. We can rejoice when a Christian dies, because we know they are going to be with God. For the unrepentant, we know it’s an eternity of torment, separated from God. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
I think some of the other FReepers explained that God wants all to be saved, so He, too, takes no joy in the death of an unbeliever. You are certainly free to do whatever you think is right regardless.

It’s too bad every person isn’t allowed to make one phone call from the after-life. It would be mighty interesting conversation.

According to Scripture, Dives the rich man spoke from Hell to Abraham, begging him to warn his brothers on Earth.
Abraham said no can do. But I’ve always wondered, was Dives sent to Hell just for being rich & ignoring Lazarus’ plight? Real question.

I don’t think being rich condemned the man, per se. I think he put wealth before God. Wealth distracts. Remember what Jesus said about the rich, camels and needles.
