Black students in New York state are 44 percent more likely than white students to have a teacher rated ineffective in math, and 35 percent more likely to have one rated ineffective in English, startling new figures from the state Education Department show. The unprecedented analysis stemmed from the results of the statewide teacher-evaluation system, which for the first time required student performance on standardized exams to factor into teachers ratings.

It looks like Black Lives Matter has now been superseded by Black Lives Ruined by those who should know better, teachers, they themselves among society's top victims.
That's a rather very well thought-up social scapegoat excuse, teachers, for group failure. Kudos to the one who came up with it, tempered by the fact that it took this long to come up with such a brilliant conspiracy.
Had someone been a bit more inspirational, we wouldn't have had to endure the difficult-to-grasp group failure concept that 'Ebonics' was for why things didn't work out even after spending $1 Trillion in the WOP (War on Poverty).
And then 'Midnight Basketball" would have never been more than an inner city dream.
Another thing about blaming teachers is that it's hard to refute it's RQ (Refutability Quotient) which is pretty solid, teachers aren't very popular or well-liked making it a brilliant new entrant in the society 'Blame Game' as to why certain groups are perennial losers, others having done consistently well throughout history.
What would really make folks like Al Sharpton start wearing sweat suit/work out clothing once again and really strengthen the group failure theory infinitely more times than any 'Bell Curve' could ever do, is to find out what percentage of teachers are black. Now, that would be something.
Just difficult to imagine that top tier teachers who have a choice where they work wouldn’t want to be in an inner city hood all day working with thugs.
Post hoc ergo proctor hoc. I think it might be that indifferent students make the teachers look kinda not so fresh.
Not to worry. Now that the courts have ruled that requiring teachers to demonstrate basic academic competence is racist, more children of all races will get ineffective teachers.
How many white elementary school students are taught by black teachers who can’t do basic math no less teach it...
Do the black students also have black teachers? The only teacher that my children had that I had a problem with, was a black woman who’s speaking skills came right out of the hood, or “ the quarter” as “they” called it.
There are both ineffective teachers and ineffective students. Both have destructive effects on learning.
There are also ineffective (and downright destructive) curriculae. They often carry more weight in stopping the learning process.
Dishonest headline? Its not that black students are more likely to get ineffective teachers, but they’re more likely to be marked ineffective by teachers. They’re totally different meaning. One is the teacher’s fault the other is the student’s fault
Did anyone look into the correlation between parenting of white students and their teacher’s ratings?
She got two job offers: One for the Tarrytown, NY school system in Westchester County that paid less and one for the Bronx that paid more.
Guess which job she took.
That is the very question in which i ended my post with.
More likely to have black teachers too.
I would wonder if there was a correlation, but that would be racist.
What color are the teachers?
Many folks will assume that for some reason black students are assigned ineffective teachers. There's some truth there. Beginning teachers are often “ineffective” because they are inexperienced. And they are assigned basic classes due to low seniority.
And many basic classes are heavily black. That's a tragedy, but the reasons for it are another topic.
But it's also possible (and more likely in my experience) that predominately black classes cause a good teacher to become ineffective.
We are now forced to teach a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Teachers have much less freedom to modify lesson plans. Many urban black kids desperately need that modification, but they don't get it.
Add to that the breakdown of common-sense classroom discipline, and test scores WILL go down. And so the teacher becomes ineffective.
Don’t you mean you ended you’r post up with?
;0)
When are the damn excuses going to end? Every since LBJ’s great society programs to more and more freebies nothing is good enough or nothing helps these folks. We tried socialism in the Jamestown colony and it failed. No more handouts -WORK.
No matter how idealistic at the start, no self-respecting teacher will put up with that environment for long. So, the ones who stay are the ones who need the paycheck and become numb to their surroundings. In short: ineffective.
And many of the black teachers were AA students in college and most are dumb as a box of rocks.
It would be a major waste of resources to give them the better teachers. It is time for us to realize after trillions in money one “can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear.”
“Discipline your children or the police will do it for you...”
