And they think “we’re sorry, we’ll provide some credit monitoring for awhile” will cover their butts.

Imagine a fighting war. I get deployed to Japan or Korea. Then my credit cards are maxed out by hackers. My wives credit cards and bank account are compromised. I get a call from my wife, in panic.
Now I have to go out and get my jets ready for the next mission.

Yep. That form requires a lot of detailed information. It takes a lot of digging on one’s part to even fill it out. I don’t think it includes banking data, but I’m sure the other OPM breaches had plenty of that.
This is just another lesson in government ineptitude. Why do people want to keep handing more power over to a government that is clearly way too big? I don’t know. Yeah. Government will solve all our problems. Geesh!

At this stage, I wonder if filling out the credit monitoring service required information is, in itself, creating another confidential database that can be hacked.
