Senator Ted Cruz joins Jeff to talk about TPA and TPP. What did you make of the interview?
NEVER will America trust Cruz after this.
First he said he did not read TPA, then he
claims he did (except for footnotes).
And I do not care that he defends himself
because of his past performance.
Cruz sold us out! He is no longer Conservative (never mind his record). He is a globalist. He is bought and paid for. He is losing his base. He is a traitor. He is horrible! He is almost like Satan now.
There, beat the trolls.
Bottom line, folks, he gave his explanation. It seems reasonable to those who want to actually pay attention. So, for your agenda driven Paulies, Walkerbots, newfound Trumpites, etc...stop being polyanna’s and tell us why we should support YOUR candidate of choice.
Cruz or lose!
LOL...you are right...NEVER will America trust Cruz. Blah, blah, blah.
So, who do you support?
The problem with passing TA is that it makes TPP much easier to pass.
Take the time to read Cruz’s statement.
Massive over reaction by many.
Sessions is ‘out-Cruzzing’ Cruz on this.
How come????
Makes no sense. TPA gives the authority to implement TPP under near secretive rules.
How do you support that AND love liberty?
Well said.
I’m not ready to throw Cruz out yet, I need to hear his position on TPP after he assesses and reviews it. Too much noise coming from people trying to push this or that candidate. Nobody has defended the Constitution like Cruz...but if it comes out this is a bad deal and he goes for it...well i’ll look at Palin to draft.
Over reaction to Cruz condoning secrecy? I think not.
Over reaction to Cruz ignoring what conservatives want?
I think not.
Over reaction to Cruz’s support for Obama on this?
I think not.
Save your breath. They’ll support him even after he comes out explicity FOR the TPP. Bank on it.
Lose with Cruz. How delusional can you be with this glib explanation by Cruz for his sellout.
Promoters of fast-track executive authority have relied on semantic obfuscation in an effort to deny the obvious: the Presidents top priority is obtaining fast-track authority because he knows it will expand his powers and allow him to cement his legacy through the formation of a new political and economic union, Sessions said.
If, as promoters amazingly suggest, the President had more powers without fast-track, he would veto it. The authority granted in Trade Promotion Authority is authority transferred from Congress to the Executive and, ultimately, to international bureaucrats. The entire purpose of fast-track is for Congress to surrender its power to the Executive for six years. Legislative concessions include: control over the content of legislation, the power to fully consider that legislation on the floor, the power to keep debate open until Senate cloture is invoked, and the constitutional requirement that treaties receive a two-thirds vote. Legislation cannot even be amended.
Do we really need to give the WH, regardless of who is in it, fast track authority?
Text of the TPA: https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/1003744-tpa-bill-text.html
The TPP, on the other hand...
Just tried to call Cruz’s office in DC. His staff are not answering calls and his VM box is full. He’s getting it big time.
Cruz warned about the immigration powers this gives to Obama....good.
Cruz offered an amendment to “fix” the dangerous immigration powers.....good.
Cruz’s amendment was voted down.......OK
Cruz then votes for the bill containing the “dangerous” (his words) immigration powers.......WTF?
Can you or any of the antiCruz trolls please tell me WHO you support and WHY Duncan Hunter VOTED FOR IT last night?
Surely, if it was so bad, he would have voted no too, right?
He voted for TPA and he mentioned about immigration. I don’t think he is off base.
Passing TPA is like throwing a python into a pig pen. The python can bide his time and gobble up the piglets (TPP, etc.) at will.
Did Duncan read the entirety of fast track?
