Jeff Sessions Issues Final 'Critical Alert': Obamatrade Just Like Amnesty, Obamacare
Breitbart ^ | 11 Jun 2015 | MATTHEW BOYLE

Posted on 06/11/2015 5:30:41 PM PDT by xzins

Sessions’ final “critical alert,” one of several he’s issued throughout the Obamatrade process, shows House Ways and Means Committee chairman Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI)60% has been engaged in deception as he attempts to guide Obamatrade’s passage through the House.

“Promoters of fast-track executive authority have relied on semantic obfuscation in an effort to deny the obvious: the President’s top priority is obtaining fast-track authority because he knows it will expand his powers and allow him to cement his legacy through the formation of a new political and economic union,” Sessions said.

The authority granted in “Trade Promotion Authority” is authority transferred from Congress to the Executive and, ultimately, to international bureaucrats. The entire purpose of fast-track is for Congress to surrender its power to the Executive for six years. Legislative concessions include: control over the content of legislation, the power to fully consider that legislation on the floor, the power to keep debate open until Senate cloture is invoked, and the constitutional requirement that treaties receive a two-thirds vote. Legislation cannot even be amended.

“By contrast, without fast-track, Congress retains all of its legislative powers, individual members retain all of their procedural tools, and every single line, jot, and tittle of trade text is publicly available before any congressional action is taken,” Sessions said.

Another obfuscation is the suggestion that TPP doesn’t yet exist. To the contrary, it has been under negotiation for six years and lawmakers can enter a closed-door, walled-off chamber to review it.

“The so-called negotiating objectives in the fast-track bill are merely for show,” Nucor Steel chairman emeritus Dan DiMicco says, according to Sessions. “The President can and does sign the agreement before Congress views or votes on it.”

The other thing to keep in mind is so what if Obama signs a piece of paper that hasn’t been voted on yet? That’s really the part that’s for “show”. Congress still retains an up or down vote and until that’s done, I would consider that piece of paper no more legal authority than any of the other unconstitutional executive orders he’s signed over the years.

Otherwise, what’s the point of this debate, just have Obozo start issuing Executive Orders declaring Trade Agreements with whatever countries.

It can be changed. Congress votes it down and sends the POTUS back to the drawing board, but ideally, a shrewd President would consult with Congress before negotiating first so that any signed agreement would be anticipated/assumed to be acceptable by Congress. Not that this POTUS would do that, but I have no doubt Cruz would utilize the purpose of TPA the way intended.

That “up and down vote” can’t be filibustered. Lovely, isn’t it.

I have never trusted him. He is so obviously fake, like a shady used-car salesman. He is supposedly conservative, but I don’t trust him.

If it’s that bad then vote against it.

OR

You can’t filibuster this Bill, but what about whatever Bill is being considered before addressing the treaty vote?

There’s always a loophole for anything.

Personally, I believe if Ted, Jeff, Mike, Rand, and Rubio got together and decided to Filibuster the entire 113th Senate with each of them taking different shifts so that nothing ever came up in the Senate for a vote...ever, I would consider this the most successful Senate in American History.

I’m beginning to think extraterrestrials abducted the real Ted Cruz and replaced him with a lookalike that thinks the opposite of the real Ted Cruz.

Maybe i’m completely uniformed, but I understand this bill has little to do with trade but much to do with “manmade global warming” and “immigration”.

I've sat and had a scotch or two with Indian H1B visa holders. It is the new indenture servitude. They are being compensated less than American workers.

93 million working age Americans are out of work. They all lazy? BS! We deal with Chinese all day every day. These people have to have OUR American work force coddle them. They do not innovate as Americans. They steal, reverse engineer and counterfeit.

Tell me...no I'll tell you. Who are the most expelled students in U.S. colleges? Hmmm? Chinese foreign students. Foreign Indians come here to complete their “government subsidized educations”. That is because their crappy institutions of higher learning.

Politicians in return for millions in campaign cash have worked in lock step with corporations to pass policy/trade deals so lopsided against American workers to increase their bottom line at the expense of a nation...ours.

China has no worker safety regulation. No retirement, no environmental safety. No freakin wonder it's cheaper to do business in China. Our guys come back from business in China horse or ill because of the pollution in the air/water/food chain.

Our engineering staff is the best and brightest. They are being laid off because of the “unspoken of” corporate age discrimination.

This goes way beyond “lazy” Americans with little work ethic. This is about insane amounts of cash, driving a relentless double digit growth patten to appease investors and pad the pockets of corporate elites that rake in 300% what the average American worker makes....even when they perform poorly. I'm sick and tired of the American worker getting slammed.

This scratch my back, i’ll scratch yours buddy buddy system of government has dismantled American manufacturing. Millions upon millions of HARD WORKING American workers have been thrown into poverty and seen their positions shipped overseas to communist China and elsewhere that work their people to exhaustion for paltry compensation.

Damn I despise the lie that American workers are lazy.

So who’s your guy then?

Walker, who took the same position as Cruz?

Perry or Rubio who are wrong on Illegal Immigration?

Rand who is to the left of Obama on foreign policy?

The Huckster who’s more liberal populist than a Republican?

Carson who doesn’t believe in the 2nd Amendment?

Jebbers the epitomy of Establishment RINOism

Oh wait, you’re candidate Elizabeth “you didn’t build that” Warren is on the other side. I hear she gets a good chunk of the low information voters which you seem to fall into if you think Cruz is a snake oil salesman. Plus she is hardcore anti TPA/TPP which seems to be the only thing you care about.

Exactly!

There’s a lot of fear-mongering going on and it’s not helping people to understand that even when it’s past it won’t go into effect until election if not after...and I think our guys will stall it until after when our guys have the Power!...Obama just wants the Glory for this as he walks out the door. HE’s desperate for something substantial!

Interesting too is Obama could ‘not’ sign onto this if he wanted. You never know with this guy!

Cruz understands TPA very well...as much the others people are getting alarmed about. I do trust the man for he’s doing more than just running for President. ....he’s flushing out the creeps as he goes along....just as he did with the amendment....and they crawled out of the woodwork.

Jeff Sessions. I love my Senator. A true Christian, southern, gentleman. I wish the stinking Senate had 99 more like him. And 400+ in the House would be nice also. Unfortunately, we have the likes of stinking McCain and his ilk.

Cruz and Walker are symptoms of a political system gone horribly awry. No one and I mean no one goes into electoral politics these days to do good or do the best for the country.

To the defense of those who might want to be better, they simply can’t. There is no way a decent person can get elected. The sheer amount of fundraising necessary to do so precludes doing anything but hustling for dollars based on your record and promises. Most people have no idea how much of an elected representatives time is spent fundraising. At the Federal level its the vast bulk of it. So we’re going to expect virtue out of someone who is hustling campaign contributions the majority of each and every day?

Ted Cruz is easily explained. He’s a political hustler with a great conservative schtick. And he views office as an investment, one that will pay off for him handsomely.

Scott Walker is a little more difficult to explain. He isn’t in Washington yet. But you have to wonder why a relatively obscure governor suddenly shoots to above the fold on newspapers and is getting copious amounts of coverage. It stinks, but in a less direct way than Cruz.

Upshot is I’m not cutting any elected politician running for president any slack, nor am I giving them any sympathy. They don’t deserve it and don’t need it. The least well-off of them is completely set for life. I’ll save my sympathy for the guy who is working to feed his family and gets laid off because some kleptocrats in Washington thought it would be a fine idea to screw the middle class.

So, just because we are against rule by corporatism, we are isolationists? I’ll take that mantle gladly.
Name one trade deal where America citizens benefited, and I’m talking citizens, not Wall Street.
Name one trade deal that didn’t result in a trade deficit.

Ted Cruz comes off as a used car salesman, which may be part of the reason why he isn’t doing better in the polls.

Your post reflects the state of the world regarding jobs....not just this nation...and that unfortunately is where we are at. No borders when it comes to hiring ...none!

You can cry and scream what’s happening to the American worker just as they did before and after NAFTA too..and here we are.

You need to send you’re letter out to Representatives and see how they react....they will show you understanding etc. but you can bet the wheel in motion is going to keep right on rolling.

Frankly it doesn’t matter how the American worker sees the foreign worker......for all nations are seeing workers being flooded into their nations too....From Africa to ME. and even India...it’s happening all over.

BTW...what is interesting is many Americans are leaving this country to other countries because they do better there then here since they get to keep the money they make!
