The Texas police officer at the center of a controversial video that showed him forcefully handcuffing and drawing his gun on a group of black teenagers at a pool party last weekend has resigned, the city’s police chief announced Tuesday.
McKinney Police Chief Greg Conley called Cpl. Eric Casebolt’s actions “indefensible” and noted that the officer, who was under investigation, “resigned on his own will.”
“As the video shows, he was out of control during the incident,” Conley said, “I had 12 officers on the scene and 11 of them performed according to their training.”
He said the internal investigation into Casebolt’s actions is now over.
“I do not condone the actions of those individuals who violated the rules of the community and showed disrespect to the security personnel on the scene and officers,” he added.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Policing is one of the most difficult jobs in the world to do well. At the same time, it is also a job where doing it well is of vital importance.

Nonsense. The other eleven officers who did their jobs properly deserve the support of the police chief, the community, and the public at large. And from me, at least, they have it without reservation. This officer, who was clearly out of his league, is lucky that his time as a police officer is ending before he got a civilian or a fellow officer or himself killed or injured.

I am mad too. The only way the nation is going to wake up, is to see the animals running as wild as they want to. Police should back off and let it happen.
Go watch the video again. Tan shorts guy did throw down his hat, did not approach to the front of the officer, but came around to his right side and kept coming until Casebolt drew. Tan shorts guy did run off and around to the right with LEO after him.

Like I said, you can go all grassy knoll on this and create whatever you want to create in your mind, but the lousy cop resigned.
He was way overboard, obviously, and his resignation and his short time with the Highway Patrol, probably reveal that what we saw, is why he resigned.
He just isn’t suited for this work.
Do you know the location of the other officers? Do you know if they had even arrived?
The point is that we are NOT aware of the facts of the situation. We have a video. We have a video of the fight that started it, which was apparently instigated by the girl, Tatyana.
I would like to have the case in court. I would like innocent until proven guilty to prevail.

I talked with someone the other day who is a former liberal. He is a small business owner and a very decent, well meaning fellow. He was never an in-your-face type of liberal but he always thought the best of people.
With the downturn in the economy he had to move his shop to a poor section of the city. He wasn’t worried because it was right across the street from the police station. He moved in and when he came to work the next morning his shop was entirely cleaned out. Everything. Everything he uses to make a living. He’s in shock.
So now the personal attacks.
When have I mentioned a crime, or being guilty, or being innocent.
The guy is overly emotional, he can’t control himself, and he resigned, he quit that job, he has moved on.
You can see a number of the other officers in the video. And, we have the Chief’s statement that the other officers acted according to their training.
Do we have a video of Tatyana’s supposed instigation of the fight? Or are you just assuming?
That happened to my work van, it was stolen and cleaned out, the cop that came to the shop said that when he saw it in the police yard, that it had been full of tools and retail goods, and that the boys who took it seemed to have only driven it around, without showing interest in all the stuff inside the van.
The tools and goods that I never saw again, a huge amount of expensive tools and goods.

Just how much of a society’s wealth should go to paying for a perfect police force?
Those of you bemoaning a 92% perfection, I assume, are anxious to confiscate more money from society to improve that rate.
Would you state an upper limit to how much of people’s wealth you’d take in your goal?

This incident is the definition of Napoleonic code. I don’t want it in my country.
I have watched and read on this particular incident for two days. What it started out as and what it has become are different.
