I completely agree. It does take a special kind of man or woman to do it well, and those who do do it well deserve all the respect we can give them. Which is why when we have rare instances like this where an officer abuses his authority, acts in a panicky manner, and places the lives and safety of civilians and, perhaps, his fellow officers in danger then he should be removed from the force.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Policing is one of the most difficult jobs in the world to do well. At the same time, it is also a job where doing it well is of vital importance.

Just how much of a society’s wealth should go to paying for a perfect police force?
Those of you bemoaning a 92% perfection, I assume, are anxious to confiscate more money from society to improve that rate.

Would you state an upper limit to how much of people’s wealth you’d take in your goal?
