An angry man roughed up a customer at a Little Caesars Pizza restaurant in Salinas for making a crack about his mom’s weight, police said.
The ruckus started Sunday when a 50-year-old man told a woman “she should not eat pizza because she was already overweight,” police said.
The comment sent the woman into a rage. She went to her car to get a crow bar, but before she could get in any blows, her son punched the man several times in the head.

Insult my mom or wife and then you can address “bigger problems.” Like your body temperature matching the room temperature. Crowbar, tire iron, baseball bat, small imported vehicle: whatever I find is gonna hurt.

Yep, the restaurant owner permitted the atmosphere that allowed insensitivities to arise and people to make hurtful and offensive statements. /sarc

You never know. If he was beaten enough, he might be hesitant to be rude the next time.
My dear Dad, as his age and dementia advanced, would occasionally say rude and embarrassing things to people in public.
Thank GOD no one ever took a crowbar to him for it. Or to me, when I was with him.
On the other hand, this rude guy was only 50 — a bit young for dementia to be setting in.

There used to be a time when even retorts were civil. She could have said something like well sir, I can go on a diet but there is no helping stupid. And then ignored him.
America is going tribal now, and it is our Wonderful Racial Peacemaker in the White Hut that has been fighting against this /not.
She couldn’t have a little thicker skin now could she.
Legal issues aside, calling someone’s momma fat in front of him is a good way to get socked in the jaw. That said, based on the fact that her first instinct upon being insulted was to fetch a crowbar, I have a feeling that the corpulent customers were likely doing something that arose the ire of the other patrons. It is my experience that few people out there will make unprovoked fat jokes to strangers.
But if someone mouths off to my mother for any reason, they might get a fist in the face.
If there is was a jury and I am on it, not guilty.
"No, dear. Your butt makes you look fat. The jeans make you look purple."

This story has enough blame to go around.
Sadly, more and more of this attitude is coloring what happens on this board.
We used to be able to tell people off for saying stupid things and then stop with that.
Now it has to impugn everyone’s family tree or something.
Oh no argument, obviously it's a family that chose ass over class. I'm just saying that if you are going to make comments on someone's habits or appearance you had better be prepared for repercussions of a worst case scenario type.
