Open Carry: the New Normal. So How Should Folks React?
pjmedia.com ^ | 6/8/2015 | Michael Walsh

When I was growing up on a series of Marine Corps bases across the country, the phrase “man with a gun” was comforting, not scary. Yet as the anti-gun movement gradually took control of the public debate, it became not just frightening — especially to those who knew nothing about firearms — but a matter for instant police action. Today, with open-carry laws proliferating — Texas is about to adopt open carry — the sight of a civilian packing heat may be the New Normal. But what are the etiquette rules so we don’t frighten children, horses and the Pansy Left?

Jim Cooley says he just wanted to make a point when he brought his AR-15 assault-style rifle out in public. He went bigger than most so-called open-carriers, though, bringing his mean-looking weapon to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the busiest airfield in the world, to drop off his daughter.

Believe it or not the new GA gun laws permit carry in the airport up to a certain area. Also in the Courthouse if you can believe that. Love it.

Why open carry, just to prove you can, just because it is your right, to show off? I sit at the mall reading with 18 hollow point double-stacked nines. I don’t see the need for open carry. And what a surprise for the bad guy when the old guy sitting quietly reading stands up and returns fire.

Unless otherwise prohibited(whatever that means) carrying should be okay ANYWHERE. Anything else is a violation of civil rights as protected(?) by the constitution.......... Just sayin’. “Don’t infringe me bro.” :>}

I’m not totally sure but I think the unless otherwise prohibited pertains to churches which can opt out if they don’t want carry in their church. And business’s have the right to post a sign that says no carry in their store.

I’m thinking “otherwise prohibited” is for felons and non felons with domestic abuse charges. As well, any business that deems themselves to be “gun free zones” are to be avoided. One rule still applies everywhere. The bad guys carry anywhere they feel like it.

24. A cowboy always helps someone in need, even a stranger or an enemy.
26. Be hospitable to strangers. Anyone who wanders in, including an enemy, is welcome at the dinner table. The same was true for riders who joined cowboys on the range.
30. Give your enemy a fighting chance.
31. Never shoot an unarmed or unforewarned enemy. This was also known as “the rattlesnake code”: always warn before you strike. However, if a man was being stalked, this could be ignored.

Nope. The "however, if a man was being stalked" rule applies in all liberal-conservative cases today. Liberals are stalking us - a sustained pursuit intent on destroying our faith, our country, our lives, and our children - and America's enemies on the left are not entitled to any human consideration.

Last year I was at Subway in line to order. A guy in his early 60’s was in front of me with a glock in open carry mode. No one around the restaurant was fazed by this. Police officer in line paying for his meal never batted an eye. Didn’t bother me in the least I had a S&W 642 in a Mika pocket holster in my pants pocket. Of course I live in rural Kentucky.

I generally don’t do open carry but have a couple of times when I am headed out fishing or returning and need to stop and pick something up from Walmart or a bait shop. S&W model 65 in open holster and nothing said by anyone except for maybe “is that a .357?”.

If carrying an AR-15 at an airport is a lawful right then someone has to exercise that right or else it isn’t a right at all.

Besides, if Muslims can carry weapons at airports then it makes sense for Christians and Jews to do the same.

If you have to shoot , shoot. Don’t talk or post/read a long winded series of rules.

Well, if you read the AJC, a woman in the food court was scarred for life, with her right to go out in public without seeing something unsettling being so grievously violated that she "hates" this man, "really hates him."

So there's that...

SO if it had been you in the pizza parlor: you’d have shot the guy instead of just beating him with a tire iron....

I conceal carry in colorado and i just chuckle at NO GUN signs as I walk in to buy what I need. Usually I don’t shop at these businesses but there are times it’s convenient. The signs have no legal standing. If discovered they can ask me to leave.

If I had to go to my car and get my tire iron (or gun) and returned, I would be charged with some kind of premeditation. So , Yeah, it would be better just to shoot him on impulse.

Strangely enough, the more folks I see (and know) are carrying, the more nicer everyone in the vicinity seems to be.

"And business’s have the right to post a sign that says no carry in their store. "

And they have the right to lose your business for doing so -- right?

~~~~~~~~
Here in Texas, the only place I've seen our "30.06" signs like that posted are in a few banks, nursing homes and hospitals.
I understand there was a movie theater chain that did so, but they backed down when Texans' refusal to attend them after the Colorado shooting nearly ran them broke...
And, speaking of churches, any invader in our local church is in for a nasty surprise from trained and armed Deacons strategically located throughout out congregation, choir and balcony.
And, on January 1, legal Open Carry and Campus Carry kick in...
~~~~~~~~

As our motto reads,

"Don't mess with Texas!"
