Fox News Megyn Kelly finally aired her big, much-anticipated interview with Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, in which they opened up about their son Josh Duggars public confession that he molested several young girls, including his own sisters, when he was a teenager.
The first time it happened, they explained, was when their son came to them, crying and saying he had touched his young sisters when they were asleep. Michelle Duggar said, We had one ray of hope in that Josh had a tender conscience.
There were more instances afterwards, Jim Bob Duggar said, in which their son had inappropriately touched his sisters over their clothes and a couple of instances where he touched them under their clothes, but it was like a few seconds. And, as he noted, his sons victims didnt seem to understand what had happened to them until it was subsequently explained to them.
They got very emotional as they spoke to Duggar about how they felt they failed as parents and how they came to the decision to send their son Josh to get therapy. Later on, Kelly brought up 19 Kids and Countingwhich has been pulled but not cancelled by TLCand asked, What would make you launch a reality TV show about your family, given this past? Jim Bob Duggar said they werent worried because the records were sealed and they had dealt with all this years ago.

yes and they chose to go to a family friend who was a state trooper and has in recent years been accused of the same type of behavior....as by the way was the head of the counseling center Josh was sent to for ‘help’. What are the odds?
no creepy behavior gives me the creeps...and it should you too
“Well I havent been following this ordeal...so I listened to the videos linked.
Based on what the parents stated, and how they handled this seemed appropriate to me. ...understanding that the kid was 14 at the time etc. I likely would have done the same...kept it in house as a parent and for the sake of my kids...until I could see there was a more serious issue needing to get addressed. Which is what they did.”

Wow, I’ve just seen a commonsense and understanding post in this thread. Thank you.
After having watched a number of episodes of “19 Kids and Counting”, watching the Meghan Kelly interview and going through all the posts in this thread, I’m somewhat at a loss for words. I think what I’m seeing are posters who are absolutely REEKING on jealousy and of a complete lack of compassion and understanding. That’s IMHO, of course.
yep...you are exactly right.
I will leave it at that .
Isn’t Meagan Springer’s new show great?
Thank you...I did a Wiki check to get an over view....sounds like they’re really just another reality show....not so sure about where they are in faith matters but appears very strict and controlled.
If you eliminate the show aspect entirely...and media hype and simply focus on the happening years ago, which seems to be what the focus is about. Then I don't see that I would have handled it differently then they did...though I might have sought outside help a bit earlier then they did, still I can't see they were negligent in how they handled this situation with their son. Every thing else about this is really simply part of their reality show....and the media's hype.
I can not believe you posters here at Free Republic...
You sound worst than the Liberal jerks on face book.
I’m surprised.
Then again I’m not...this site has really changed over the years.
Not feeling comfortable here lately...think I’ll take a break...

I agree. And with that I’m going to bed before I see any more posts from the glass house crowd.
They didn’t go because they were afraid to do it and wanted to have the church and themselves take care of it. The Police basically ended up burying the situation, but only after a stern talking to and the sealing of the police report and case.
“Mia Farrows brother is in prison for molestation of two 10-year-old boys.”
I didn’t know about that at all. The media is selective with their outrage. Megyn’s show is basically the first time Fox news has brought up The Duggars situation. The rest of the media is unhappy about FNC not following marching orders.
Whereas you and I would’ve gone to jail.
They may have something to learn yet, but it will be on the order of confidently stating that they have no need to rehearse the situation because God in utter grace forgave all of them for sins both of commission and omission. And if the world has a problem with that, the world can take it to the Master.
‘Some Christians are creepy.’
In all my years, I’ve known a few creepy people, also.
99 percent were NOT Christian.
People doubtless may have envied David of the bible who did not personally die as a penalty to what he did to Uriah (and his wife).
They might envy less (on a worldly level) when they saw what God dragged David through.
They would envy very much on a spiritual level when they saw the ultimate results.
In the meantime behind him stood a Savior offering to do enviable things for the rest of the world too, if it is only willing to accept.
‘Locked bedroom doors what does that tell you?’
Dunno - we installed locks on all our daughter’s doors - to keep each other out. Ever hear the fuss when girls take each other’s stuff??! Actually and supposedly take stuff. . .
(They have no brothers).
Well, then...you didn’t know this type of “Christian.” Have them in my family. Little girls in long sleeves and skirts in 90 degree weather, etc. I haven’t seen them in years (on purpose)...even as a kid I was smart enough to know that they were weirdos.
Did you all hear/see that Megyn Kelly has interviewed 2 of the Duggar girls, and will be airing that show, also. Maybe tomorrow?
So you do not like their old fashioned bent.
I do not personally choose old fashioned for my attire nor do the people who go to the church worship where I do. A soul looks the same to God in blue jeans as in a three piece suit. I.e. a literal damned mess unless also spiritually clothed in Christ.
It looks like your “weirdo” judgment is a self affirming bias before the bar and judge of your own soul, bolstered by nothing else. The things that happen when a God that is permitted to let grace abound more than sin does, are quite out of view. We all ought to be on the way to hell, if it is on behalf of what we earned or could earn. It is also God’s earnest desire that this not happen.
Yeah, Christianity breaks the world’s rules. The world can take it to Christ if it does not like that.
