When Trump declared to the Republican Party of Iowas Lincoln Dinner that he is going to make an announcement in June thats going to surprise a lot of people, he wasnt preparing to launch his long-awaited candidacy. He was simply doing what he always does: Promote the Donald. Generate headlines. Get people talking.
His June announcement is guaranteed to raise all of the excitement of such previous bids for publicity as Donald Trump Announces Mens Fragrance (March 24), Donald Trump Announces Phil Mickelson Villa at Trump National Doral (March 5), Donald Trump Announces Florida International University as new Home for Miss Universe (Dec. 11) and the game-changing, envelope-pushing, earths-orbit-reversing, Donald Trump Announces Partnership with Prestwick Airport (Nov. 14).
On March 18, Trump made his big announcement that he was about to form a presidential exploratory committee. All of the political press covered it. But it was pure Trump a way to say something that attracts suckers in the press without actually doing anything.
Presidential campaigns have to register with the Federal Election Commission. Exploratory committees do not. They dont have to do much of anything except avoid getting involved in a presidential campaign, which would trigger FEC regulations.

Hell save us!
LOL"
Are you kidding? Donald Trump has ALREADY performed a great service for this country. Think of all that shocking info he revealed about Obama's birth certificate....
Uh...no, wait....
Cringing, when Trump doesn’t run, I predict you’ll be right back on Sarah-watch.
Why not pick from the hundreds of Republican candidates already running?
You know....I wouldn’t want him for president. That being said he has had some good ideas. He wanted bush to make Iraq pay for the war by getting the dollar value and more in oil. The U.S. Is afraid to take anything even if they are owed. Like keeping military bases all over the world to protect those nations but not getting a penny in compensation.
The government is so friggin generous with our money.
South Korea pays the U.S. over $800 million annually for its military support. It is considered a cost-sharing arrangement.
I hope not. How much bigger can this pool get?
Donald Trump, Sarah Palin...both reality TV show stars who pretend to run for president in order to get publicity.
When neither run, maybe Cringing can throw his support behind the former Bruce Jenner. Jenner's a self-professed conservative, after all. ;-)
Nobody currently running, is standing up for American jobs.
That simply, is Trump’s issue.
He’s strongly for returning American jobs right here.
Nobody else is saying that. In either party.
I think Trump is going to run until I hear he is not. He hired some people and is seeming closer to announcing than 2012. I say this year most of the people considered to run will jump in. That is why there will 22 people when it is all over.
That's right. He's the only one. Cruz, Walker, etc...they don't give a rip./S
LOL, Bruce Jenner! Hey, he’s a Republican, at least! Trump self-identified as a Democrat.
Trump is a joke, and IMO there are better candidates than Sarah Palin. Cruz is an excellent example.
Maybe Trump will pick Palin for his VP.
If they do, they’re not showing it thus far.
Trump has the subject all to himself.
That ticket would be unbeatable, would win, and would be precisely on target to refocus on American excellence.
I am 100% for that ticket.
The ONLY thing RUNNING on Donald Trump is his MOUTH
SAYING it and DOING it are two different realities.
Remember... "If you like your insurance you can keep your insurance" - SPOKEN 209 times by Obama.
I said it already. The only thing RUNNING on Trump is his MOUTH.
All I am saying is nobody is saying that except Trump.
Nobody.
Not worth the effort to type it out.
In Ted Cruz (or anyone else) has made a single noise about bringing back businesses to America, speak up.
I believe Santorum did, last go around.
That’s it, I think.
Cruz seems to be for globalization, I believe it is time to bring jobs back to America.
I don't trust him on anything. Here's a little multiple choice question. While on "Fox & Friends", what did Trump say about Geller's draw Muhammad event?
A. "Good for her! We all need to stand up for free speech."
B. "What is she doing drawing Muhammad? I mean its disgusting."
The answer is B.
