WASHINGTON Just as Sen. Bernie Sanders progressive presidential challenge to Hillary Clinton is gaining steam, an old essay of his has surfaced in which he says women fantasize being raped by 3 men simultaneously.
A man goes home and masturbates his typical fantasy. A woman on her knees, a woman tied up, a woman abused, Sanders, 73, wrote in 1972 for an alternative newspaper called the Vermont Freeman.
A woman enjoys intercourse with her man as she fantasizes being raped by 3 men simultaneously.
In another part of the article he wrote:
Do you know why the newspapers with articles like Girl, 12, raped by 14 men sell so well? To what in us are they appealing?
Sanders was 30 at the time and was running for both the US Senate and governor of Vermont on the leftist Liberty Union Party line.

Okay, went off and read the (really badly written) essay.
He never says ALL women, or even MOST women. He simply speaks, somewhat clumsily, of “a woman” and “a man” and how they interact.
The taboo stuff is in the first few paragraphs. Once past it, the essay actually has some thoughtful stuff about how men and women may find it difficult to relate to each other because their relationships with each other as individuals gets tangled up with all men vs. all women issues.
So your claim is quite simply false. The man is an idiot, but he did not say what you say he did.
This man is running for president. Why are you defending him?

Conservatives have begun to complain about a lack of outrage from the political left, comparing Sanders’ case to that of Todd Akin, a former Missouri Republican congressman whose 2012 U.S. Senate candidacy crashed and burned after he suggested that ‘legitimate’ cases of rape rarely result in pregnancies.
‘Had Ted Cruz or Rick Santorum wrote something along these lines even 40 years ago the media wouldn’t stop talking about it for weeks,’ the right-wing Media Research Center opined on Thursday.
National Review’s Charles Cooke added to the scenario, saying ‘it wouldnt just be Ted Cruz or Rick Santorum who would be asked about the essay: it would be every Republican in the race. In fact, it would be every Republican not in the race, too.’
‘Immediately, Planned Parenthood would start a fundraising drive,’ wrote Cooke. ‘And eventually, when the drumbeat became too much to handle, the essays author would resign or withdraw or commit some form of political seppuku.’
Not defending the man. Defending the truth.
Is it proper to lie about someone because he’s on the other side?
If you want to say he wrote a stupid essay, I agree 100%.
If you say his essay says all women fantasize about being raped, that’s a lie.
When did defending truth cease to be a conservative value?
Since he’s a radical Marxist this will be to his credit. Change him to Republican and he hates women.
Bernie on rape.

But some people in conservative media, like respected anti-rape activists Bill Kristol and Erick Erickson, are very concerned about the article and what it may mean about Sanders views on rape. I decided to investigate, and it turns out that Bernie Sanders does, indeed, have a long record on the issue of violence against women.
Some of the more troubling recent highlights:
In 2003, Sanders was among 32 co-sponsors of the Prison Rape Elimination Act, a measure to establish a zero-tolerance standard for sexual violence in prison. (The measure passed unanimously, but enforcement has been weak in the last decade.)
In 2011, Sanders co-sponsored a measure to address the rape kit backlog. Heres how Sen. Dianne Feinstein, another of the bills co-sponsors, explained the measure: Thousands of rape kits sit untested in police storage facilities nationwide. This is lost justice for rape victims. Testing DNA evidence in rape kits is a crucial tool to help law enforcement arrest and prosecute rapists. The Justice for Survivors of Sexual Assault Act will make sure that victims are no longer denied the necessary tools for justice.
In 2012, Sanders co-sponsored the renewal of the Violence Against Women Act. Heres how he explained that vote: The act has been extremely successful in Vermont and across the country. While we are reducing the incidence of domestic violence, much more has to be done. Too many girls and women are still suffering from domestic violence and sexual abuse and that must end.
In 2013, he called on the Department of Veterans Affairs to step up efforts to provide care and benefits for veterans who experienced sexual assault in the military so that they receive the care and benefits needed to confront the emotional and physical consequences of this horrific experience.
In 2014, Sanders voted for New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrands proposal to move the system of reporting and prosecuting rape in the military outside the chain of command. When that bill failed, Sanders issued the following statement about rape:
An estimated 26,000 service members were sexually assaulted in 2012, a 37 percent increase in just one year, according to a recent Department of Defense study. I voted for Sen. Kirsten Gillibrands bill because it would give servicemen and women an independent route outside the chain of command to report serious crimes, and I am disappointed that it was defeated I also supported a separate measure by Sen. Claire McCaskill that includes some important reforms, but remain concerned that it does not go far enough. Victims of rape and sexual assault in the military deserve a fair and independent system outside the chain of command to report these types of crimes.
And just last month, Sanders balked at the GOP budget proposal because, among other programs put on the chopping block, it would slash funds for domestic violence service providers. He said at the time that funding to help victims of domestic violence in Vermont could be slashed by more than $270,000, including funding for the STOP Violence Against Women Program that helps states provide support services for victims of domestic violence.
The truth is out, and the public aided by fearless womens rights advocate Erick Erickson will not rest until Sanders explains his record.
Non-responsive.
BTW, what is “troubling” about his record you cite? Those are typical leftist pandering to the issue of sexual violence.
Any second and NOW will jump in and condemn Sanders... really - any second now...
Any second...
Really...
Or not...
Could it be that the “women” in his essay were just a metaphor representing himself?
How much more general can Sanders be in that article? He’s not speaking of A man or A women but men and women in general.
He doesn’t come out and say ALL women but it’s pretty clear to me that he’s trying, very poorly, to describe his view of females in 1972.
Sounds like he’s trying to write for Penthouse but comes off writing for Mad Magazine.
