Rick Perrys June event in Addison, Texas, where he is expected to announce his candidacy for president, will feature a number of retired and current Navy SEALs, according to a invite to the event. Retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, whose autobiography inspired the 2014 film Lone Survivor, will attend with his wife. The widow of retired Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, whose autobiography inspired the oscar-nominated American Sniper, will also be there.
The event will also feature retired U.S. Navy SEAL JJ Jones, retired U.S. Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor Recipient Mike Thornton, retired U.S. Navy SEAL Pete Scobell, and current Navy SEAL Morgan Luttrell.
Bestselling author Brad Thor, retired U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician Paul Craig, and retired U.S. Marine Corps Captain Dan Moran will also be at the event.
that’s quite the list
he may end up being the only 2016 Republican contender with military experience.
Might be true if were a contender, but he isn't.
Cool.
I won’t be voting for him.
I don’t know what possessed these men to sully their reps standing with a man that had high praise for the woman that helped get a bunch of their fellows killed and lied about it, but they earned the right to make that call.
Well, La Raza Rick can contend with Rubio. Same song, only an older version.
While I do respect anyone having military experience wanting to run for POTUS, having done so is not the ONLY reason to vote for them. What other attributes are in their “bag of tricks” that would make me want to see them as our nations leader?
Luttrell, Kyle and Thor!
I really find this strange......would not have imagined it.
I surely thought they would be supporting Cruz.
....and may I add I am beyond disappointed!
Revenge of the Governors.
I like Rick Perry but I think his time was 2012.
I know Freepers don’t like him, and he’s done things that make me angry, but generally we could do a lot worse than Perry. Namely, Hillary or Jeb.
He ought to be surrounded by drug mules, er, “dreamers”, during his announcement.
We can always do a lot worse, but right now, we have got to do BETTER.
Muuuuuuch better. We are up a creek with no paddle.
Great gathering, but I'd sooner vote for Joe Perry, or even Steve Perry. I'd be very surprised if his candidacy, regardless of how short-lived it turns out to be, nails the lid on Jeb's, Chris', and Huck's, and maybe Ben's. IOW, not entirely useless.
Freepers don't like Rick Santorum and bizarrely felt that Newt Gingrich was "more conservative" than him. Rick Perry, on the other hand, had a TON of fans here and was hyped endlessly as the "anti-Romney" candidate the last time around. His candidacy sucked all the air out of the room and other conservatives, like Michelle Bachmann, were thrown under the bus in favor of Perrymania.
I agree that there doesn't seem to be as much enthusiasm for Perry this time around, however. Rick Perry's performance in 2012 can be attributed to that.
Why?
This clown has no business trying again. Both Rickys and Elmer Gantry are unwelcome additions to the race.
