In an exclusive interview with Campus Reform, the former active-duty Marine who served two combat tours in Iraq said his suspension came after he requested to meet with a different counselor in the schools Office of Counseling and Disability Services. Rawls, who is diagnosed with combat-related post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), was originally paired with a female counselor who wore traditional Muslim dress during his initial visit to the office.

According to Rawls, his attempts to meet with staff members to discuss the schools policy about changing counselors were repeatedly ignored and it wasnt until a recent meeting with administrators that he was able to speak with staff.
Their response was suspending me pending a mental evaluation which I provided and then they put me on further restriction and a reintegration program, Rawls said.

You are not permitted to be on campus for any reason or attend class during the duration of the Interim Suspension unless you have written permission, states an email sent to Rawls on Feb. 26 and later obtained by Campus Reform.

On March 16, Rawls was notified of his permission to reintegrate back into academics after fulfilling the schools request for an independent mental evaluation.
At this time, you are only allowed integration back into academics, meaning: attending class, lectures, or any other academic related matter that is pertinent to a class or graded assignment, Ambrose wrote in a second email to the student veteran.
In addition to a provision restricting Rawls from attending on-campus events or participating in student organizations, the schools Integration Action Plan required that he show ability to handle [his] academic course load and demonstrate regular attendance in mental health therapy at a licensed therapist of his choice.

That Muslim was no threat; she was alone with a man not her family member as part of her work. Thus she is apostate and would be stoned in about 47 Muslim countries.
I cannot disagree with you completely on this, but...they the college SHOULD do their PART to help this man, not strike a match near an open source of flammable material.
You are correct...it isn’t their RESPONSIBILITY.
But is IS the responsibility of the counseling staff to treat him appropriately, in my opinion.
I was being facetious when I said we should accuse them of “microagression”.
But I don’t see it as hypocritical in the least to ask that a non-muslim counselor be assigned to a man with PTSD, a well documented condition stemming from some of the most violent warfare in a muslim country, while at the same time ridiculing the efforts of minorities, feminists (specifically those minorities and feminists who DEMAND special treatment due to some kind of assumed societal traumatization or their perceived societal victimization) homosexuals and transgenders who are cravenly trying to leverage the mental health system to achieve their goals of societal acceptance.
If that subset of minorities and feminists, as well as homosexuals and transgenders accept they have a mental disorder (as this vet accepts his PTSD is a disorder) then I would revise my assessment.
I hope the former Marine sues the Shiite out of the so-called university.
God what a stink-hole this nation is devolving to.

Ronald Reagan’s Last Stand is Standing Down. A new Dark Ages looms up ahead.
I hate that detestable piece of human excrement, his work, and all people who subscribe to his theories.
That said, as I facetiously suggested in my post about accusing them of microagression, I can appreciate the entertainment provided by the irony of seeing them hoisted on their own petard.
But I will say, having read “Rules For Radicals”, I feel that I would rather go down swinging in failure than win using those guidelines. Ugh. I HATED it. Forcing myself to get all the way through it was a real chore.
Oh really?
Of course, I’ve gotten so cynical, my first question is always, “what am I not being told about the situation”. IF we are getting the whole story, it doesn’t sound like it is being handled well. Thus back to my first comment that he probably should be in a public university where he should have more rights.
Even if this guy has to go the ACLU he needs to get a lawyer pronto
Doesn't it seem kind of weird this information is conveyed via email? What a brave academic....
I wonder if there is more to the story on either side.
I agree.
For all I know, he may have flipped out when he went in and saw a muslim woman assigned to him. I didn’t get that from the story, but...as we all know, it is only as accurate as written.
If the guy became violent and abusive, that has to be factored in.
You are correct, as PAR35 is, to keep in mind there may be more to it.
But, if they aren’t pressed, we will never find out, it will just disappear down the memory hole.
No matter what, the counseling arm of the institution should at the very minimum had more tact and forbearance than to assign a counselor like that to a man like this.
Think of it. This guy Hassan who shot all the people at Fort Hood was a psychiatrist and a muslim! Can you imagine if you were a vet having issues with your experiences, and they assign a guy like that to work with you?
This isn’t as egregious as that, but heck, I am not involved in the field, and I can see it would have been better with someone else.
Has their “native garb” affected the healthcare at the VA?
What do you suppose the government should MAKE them wear to “assimilate”?
I wasn’t aware we had some kind of Constitutional wardrobe requirement.
That guy needs legal representation. He tried to play nice. He asked for a different counselor, which should be no big deal. Now that he’s getting the runaround and the subject of potentially career-damaging finger-pointing to boot, he needs an advocate to help him stand up for his rights.
It’s nothing new. Feminist instructors in colleges were pushing healthy soldiers out during the ‘80s.
Can you imagine a WWII vet who stormed the beach at Normandy coming home and going to college on the GI Bill and walks into a counselor’s office and there’s a guy sitting there in a Nazi uniform? There are way too many idiots in this country.
I don’t see it as a desire for diversity. I see as a desire to bow down to Islam.
At the VA, I was getting the full proselytizing treatment from the Muslim nurse, she even drew a Muslim something on my copy of things to do at home.
It was bizarre, not as bizarre as being met by all German accented blacks hats when my bus arrived at Jump school during the Vietnam war, but it was much more unpleasant and disturbing.
I just couldn’t imagine how she gets way with doing that, with the young guys coming straight from the Muslim wars.
Don’t blame him the slightest......policy never to knowingly do business of any sort with muslims.
