Wealthy humans are likely become [sic - Brit speak?] cyborgs within 200 years as they gradually merge with technology like computers and smart phones, a historian has claimed.
Yuval Noah Harari, a professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said the amalgamation of man and machine will be the biggest evolution in biology since the emergence of life four billion years ago.
Prof Harari, who has written a landmark book charting the history of humanity, said mankind would evolve to become like gods with the power over death, and be as different from humans of today as we are from chimpanzees.
He argued that humans as a race were driven by dissatisfaction and that we would not be able to resist the temptation to upgrade ourselves, whether by genetic engineering or technology.
We are programmed to be dissatisfied, said Prof Harari. Even when humans gain pleasure and achievements it is not enough. They want more and more.
I think it is likely in the next 200 years or so homo sapiens will upgrade themselves into some idea of a divine being, either through biological manipulation or genetic engineering of by the creation of cyborgs, part organic part non-organic.
It will be the greatest evolution in biology since the appearance of life. Nothing really has changed in four billion years biologically speaking. But we will be as different from todays humans as chimps are now from us."

Power, immortality, knowledge and no wisdom.
What could possibly go wrong?
We had paradise once and threw it away.
Somebody has been watching to many movies. People need too learn that movies are nothing but make believe.
Humans will have to upgrade themselves if they don’t want the robots to take over the earth.
We were .
“The Supreme Entity”...God Himself!
We are programmed to be dissatisfied, said Prof Harari. Even when humans gain pleasure and achievements it is not enough. They want more and more.’
Nothing satisfies except God. So he is absolutely correct but the answer of course is not more material goods but the love of Jesus.
Define “God-like”.
God creates the Universe and is outside of it and the cause-effect continuum. Is that what he means? So integrating microprocessors in the human body is going to make each person a creator of the Universe and set him outside of the cause-effect continuum?
That’s what he says but not what he means. He means that by connecting computers to brains there will no longer be a need for God.
Then how come today's humans seem so much closer to chimps than those fifty years ago? :)
I'm guessing that technology will not be enough to prevent the chimps from eventually killing and eating the cyborgs. The Fall of Rome again, but from a much higher height this time. Look at today's bad example - cyborg-like elites creating ISIS to spite their rivals and make money, but almost immediately losing control of their chimps. Cyborgs will always think themselves too smart to fail...and this will inevitably make them fail.
I think the Historian needs to lay off playing the Deus Ex video games, or stop watching Ghost in the Shell anime, or whatever his entertainment obsession is.
Except that instead of being programmed, we were created with free will.:-)

Yes indeed!
Programming Free WIll...into a machine....seems exceedingly unlikely to me...
