Any statements by Catholic bishops?
The strong Catholic faith & heritage of the Irish has been weakened by two events. The Irish free state movement preached a lot of socialist and secular ideas and many of its leaders continue to hold them now that Ireland is an independent country. Second, the never ending recession which started in 2008 continues to wear on the Irish spirit due to debt and job loss. Both issues seem to have lessened the influence of Catholic faith.
Christianity was the bedrock of what made Ireland a great nation. Now it casts a sinister "shadow" over it? Disgusting report from someone who clearly has no clue about Irish history.
A marriage cannot be gay. Only people can be gay. It’s same-sex marriage and the participants need not be gay.
Pity
Europe has largely rejected Catholicism now
Is Poland lost too
Since Marriage is a Roman Catholic sacrament, with the homosexual lobby also want gay Confession? gay Baptism? gay Communion?
Coming soon to Ireland, a major earthquake or tsunami.
After the vote: Gay marriage! It's a really big deal!
This happened so easily because Ireland has no conservative political parties. Not even a minor one really. A pro-lifer in Fine Gael left them to found “Renua Ireland” but her new party is officially neutral on abortion and she was for this. The only conservative parties on the whole island are NI Unionist Parties like the DUP.
Fine Gael has a right wing but they don’t control the party. Conservatives in Fine Gael were afraid to oppose this and face party discipline.
There doesn’t appear to have been any organized NO campaign at all.
Only Catholics today in Ireland are Polish.
Christian evolution takes strange turns in some strange places
