Robert Gates, president of the Boy Scouts of America, told the organization Thursday at its annual national meeting that the time has come to end the ban on homosexual adult leaders in the organization. Citing the wave of cultural changes taking place under threat from homosexual activists, including same-sex marriage edicts in the courts and anti-discrimination laws in several states, Gates insisted, “The status quo in our movement’s membership standards cannot be sustained.”
“The one thing we cannot do is put our heads in the sand and pretend this challenge will go away or abate,” Gates added. “Quite the opposite is happening.”
Translation: Abandon traditional values in the face of pressure from the Rainbow Mafia.
Far from putting “our heads in the sand,” however, defending both traditional Judeo-Christian values and religious liberty itself is called standing on principle.
Gates did not call upon BSA leaders to make a decision on the matter forthwith, but he did caution that if the organization doesn’t change on its own the homosexual lobby and its allies in the courts are likely to force the issue. “If we wait for the courts to act,” he warned, “we could end up with a broad ruling that could forbid any kind of membership standard,” including belief in duty to God and specifically serving the needs of boys.
So he argued for change, leaving it up to individual troops and councils and the churches who sponsor them … for now. However, such a change would only leave troops and councils across the nation susceptible to legal assaults by the Tolerance Brigade.
Gates, a former secretary of defense and CIA director, has a track record of knuckling under to homosexual activists. He was at the helm of the Pentagon for the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” in 2010, justifying his actions at the time as an end to discrimination rather than calling the change what it was: an attempt by gays and lesbians to remake yet another institution to suit the needs of a small but vocal fraction of the population.
(On that note, homosexuals and their allies have managed to erroneously convince more than half of Americans that gays make up at least 20% of the population. The true number is more like 3%, but it helps the agenda if it appears there are far more of them.)
When Gates took the job as president of the BSA in 2014, he said he had no intention of allowing openly homosexual scout leaders. The BSA was already reeling from a 2013 decision that summarily dropped the ban on openly homosexual youths. The vote was passed by 60% of the 1,400 delegates in attendance, which may seem like a landslide but is hardly a representative cross-section of the national organization.
Scout membership nationally is already down more than 10% since the last encroachment of gay activists — but the prospect of homosexual leaders overseeing troops will most assuredly lead to a much more significant decline.
Next thing you know, the BSA will be banning water guns. Oh, wait…
Gates is correct that the homosexual lobby isn’t done reshaping the 103-year-old organization to suit its agenda. Scouts for Equality and Human Rights Campaign issued statements after Gates' speech Thursday saying they were heartened by his words, but wanted to see more action.
HRC President Chad Griffin said, “It’s time for BSA leaders to show true leadership and embrace a full national policy of inclusion that does not discriminate against anyone because of who they are.” Unless of course you want to discriminate against someone for their religious beliefs — that’s perfectly acceptable to HRC and other members of the homosexual lobby.
And never mind that the “tolerant” thing to do would be to live and let live. Set up another scouting organization to advance and promote leftist values, and leave the Boy Scouts alone.
Yet proponents of the homosexual agenda have convinced the courts and the Leftmedia to go along with their plan to dismantle every institution in this country for the sake of accommodating, promoting and advancing their own lifestyle. Submit to homosexual leaders, don’t oppose same-sex marriage, bake the cake — whatever the demand, you will comply. Or else. So-called tolerance is a one-way street.
What takes place between consenting adults is one thing, but when did it ever become necessary to force other people to condone that behavior?
“We must deal with the world as it is, not as we might wish it to be,” Gates declared. Well, the world as it is right now is being reshaped by an aggressive minority who want little more than the power to reshape the culture and its institutions in its own image.

We all know of the eventual “Hitler Youth” organizations who the SS used for sexual recreation (like the Afghanis use boys)-—which led to the homosexual Nazi SS “worldview” which was enacted in Germany-— to see others as sterile dogs to be dominated and used as a Means to an End and killed if they don’t believe in Satanism.
Any promotion of homosexuality to make such an evil vice into a “virtue” is the promotion of Satanism-—and is totally irrational as all paganism and tribalism is-—like the Afghani culture which forces little boys into harems for the lust of men.
Worldview (and desires) is formed by the experiences in Real Life and any boys who “think” (are taught) sodomizing others is Good-—will be as warped and irrational as the harem boys when they grow up who only lust after males, boys and goats and learn to hate and mutilate women who are reduced to breeders only—for the boys.
Natural Law Theory is what our “Justice” (virtue) System is based on along with Christian Ethics. Promoting the religion of Satanism is evil and antithetical to the Constitution (and Objective Truth-—basis of American Law).
I always thought the Scouts were founded by the courageous Victorian/Edwardian soldier Robert Baden-Powell. I guess their founder was really Neville Chamberlain.
This is why they hired him. They wanted to surrender and hired Gates to take the blame.
I still remember the outrage whenever Tom Lehrer’s “Be Prepared” piano ditty hit the airwaves & lampooned Scouting’s values. He imputed drinking, smoking, dealing dope, prostitution & illicit sex to the BSA & this was in 1953!
Of course it was a colossal joke then, but not any more.

I agree as I learned a lot in Germany as a military dependent and a young boy scout. I really liked scouting and quickly became a life scout and had all the merit badges for eagle scout. My father’s tour was over and I regret I could not finish. The officers and senior NCO’s were great to us scouts as a full colonel MD taught first aid in his quarters on post. I recall so many others who helped. We went to Bavaria on one trip that took us to the “Eagles Nest” (Hitler’s old retreat).I was the asst. senior patrol leader when we went to England for the Intl. Boy Scout Jamboree. I will never forget riding in a bus on the wrong side of the road. The head scoutmaster was an NCO. Just like little league and Babe Ruth league baseball the NCO’s really helped us kids. West Point then highly valued eagle scouts.
Homosexuals almost destroyed the Boy Scouts when they were banned from joining.
They will destroy it now.

I hope and believe that is exactly what will happen if they do this stupid thing. The major supporters of the scouts are Roman Catholic, Mormon and Evangelical Christians. They will likely all pull out of the scouts if this happens, I wouldn't blame them in fact would applaud them. When they and their money go away so will the scouts.
I would hope instead of joining with the queer scout leader wannabe’s that the scouts fire Gates and do what is right, that is to call evil what it is evil.

This is disappointing.
I am an Eagle Scout. I was a member of a troop that was founded by Alexander D. Goode, who later was memorialized as one of the Four Chaplains, who went down with the USS Dorchester in WWII, after giving up their life jackets to others.
Rabbi Goode founded the troop, which met at the JCC in York, PA, under the condition that the troop admit boys regardless of race, religion, or national origin. In 1940, my father, a most blessed memory, became Scoutmaster, and led the troop until 1962, when he stepped down to become an assistant scoutmaster, and let a younger man, one of his first Eagle Scouts, take the reigns.
In 1952, the troop was recognized by a national magazine for being the first troop in the country to have boys achieve the religious awards in all the major religions. Also the troop boasted of having the second and third African-American boys to achieve the rank of Eagle in York.
When I was a scout, in the 1960’s, sex of either orientation had no place in scouting, and there were cases of boys engaging in sex with girls, or with other boys, and they were dealt with, sometimes quietly.
When I was 14, we were at camp during an Order of the Arrow weekend. In the cabin where we were bunked, I was persistently propositioned by an older scout from another troop. He made the mistake of doing this in front of three of my friends, who relentlessly mocked him all weekend.
About twenty years ago, the liberals on the board of the JCC started beating the drums to have the troop expelled from the JCC, where a room was endowed by a contributor, specifically for the use of the scout troop. They finally succeeded, and the contributor had passed away and nobody contested the expulsion.
Over the years, a probation officer and a guidance counselor sent my dad their problem boys, and many of them were straightened out by the experience. One of them, now an adult, told me that my dad had “straightened his ass out” after a brush with the law.
When the troop that met at a Catholic church lost their scoutmaster, their boys joined with our troop until they found another leader. When the predominantly Black troop lost their leader, they joined our troop. I’m proud of my father’s legacy in scouting. He was short in stature, with small feet, but he left huge footprints on our souls.
So, this development is disturbing, and I don’t think the BSA can survive it. If they don’t cave, the will be sued out of existence, and if they do cave, and someone has an experience similar to mine, or worse, they will be sued six ways to Sunday. They can’t win.
Most gay boys and leaders are not sexual predators, but it only takes a few in such a prey rich environment, as we saw with Coach Sandusky at Penn State.
