For years, I was what we lefties in Texas refer to as, "A bright blue dot in a big red state." I believe in recycling, social services, a woman's right to choose, and immigration. I spent a lot of time defending these things around my red friends, and bemoaning this defense around my fellow blue dots.
And then I bought a gun, and everything changed. I was shamed by the blue dots and consoled by the red. I turned purple.
When my fellow blue dots found out I owned a gun, they were shocked. Gape-mouthed and stunned to speechlessness, they usually recovered with, What are you thinking? or, How could you?!

Not an “unpopular” opinion...
That is heresy, and is punishable by SWAT’ing and death threats...
I thought the same thing when I read the headline and figured it would be an article arguing for more ambidextrous firearms.
Liberals as a rule should not have guns. They are mentally unstable and more likely to harm themselves or some innocent people.
Just as it would be perfectly easy for me to turn the wheel and head-on the guy in the other lane.
But I don't do it. And very few people do. If you are going to have the power to protect yourself and your loved ones, by definition you have power to destroy the innocent. With great power comes great responsibility.
BTW, as a fairly large male I have the power to overpower most females I see. But I don't. I don't even think about it. The woman is a little odd to be thinking about such things.
I’ve found Pro-RKBA is one of the few issues that crosses the entire political spectrum. It’s one of the main reasons that it’s a loser issue in many cases for politicians looking to curtail it.
I come in contact with many “lefties” here in NY that are gun owners. They just can’t put 2 and 2 together on the wider issue. Then you have the RINO “Golfers with Guns” on the other side.
Get an Ithaca model 37. It ejects from the bottom.....
.....what? Not that kind of Lefty? Oh! Sorry can’t help you.
She’s either not so liberal, or else a Diane Feinstein-style hypocrite.
Ask her what she thinks of gun laws in New York state or Connecticut.
Well, she admits being pro-abortion, too. So I guess it's a bit easier for her to contemplate doing the unspeakable.
That's what kills me about Libtards - heck, I believe in all of those things.
Of course with the caveats:
* I recycle, reuse, and compost because I'm a good steward with the things God has given me, not because I worship "Mother Earth"
* I believe a good people should provide some type of safety net for those who are truly in a bad place through no fault of their own, (safety net doesn't mean generational welfare).
* I believe a woman has a right to vote, to own land, and to make any other choice she wants to make, as long as she respects the life of others (including very tiny babies).
* I believe immigration is good, as long as it's legal and done in moderation (just like every other nation on the planet)
It’s not right vs left. It’s collectivists vs individualists. At least on this issue, he comes down on the side of individual rights over “rights” of the state.
Heres the other dirty truth about shooting a gun: it is as terrifying as it is fun. At least part of the trembling left in my arms when I shoot is the realization that it would be so easy so simple and easy to turn out the side of my cubby in the range and shoot someone next to me. It's not an idea I would ever act on, but it is frightening all the same. Its the same sensation you get when you stand on the edge of a really tall building or a lookout at the Grand Canyon and realize how easy it would be to just keep leaning, until you fall.
In a nutshell, this describes the hoplophobe's true fear.
You probably think it's a crazy notion, and it's unlikely it has even occurred to you. But, this is what drives the left crazy -- it's all they can think about, and they map that fear onto everyone else.
They don't realize it's THEIR psychological problem, and they need professional help. This woman seems to be be dealing with it better than most, but by writing this paragraph she has effectively validated her friends' fear of guns -- and now, they will fear her.
After all, here is her previous article: "IT HAPPENED TO ME: I Went on a Date to a Sex Dungeon"
Hmmm??? Wonder where she hid the gun at the sex dungeon?
Should we ping Laz to this? She sounds like the perfect female for him..
Since when do we make paper plates out of redwoods? And my plastic water bottles go in a landfill down the road a ways (or are recycled). They never end up in the ocean. Her ‘red’ friends need to reason with her a bit more & they might pull her away from the dark side.
LOL! I know. Those redwood paper plates are HEAVY. We make trips to the ocean once a month to dump our plastic bottles in. But only so castaways could build a raft out the them of course. It could have saved the Skipper and the crew and passengers of the Minnow.
Lots of Obama supporters have guns.
But they don’t want YOU to have one. That’s just how it is. :>}
Sane leftists with guns, however, would be unusual. Liberalism is a mental illness and mentally ill people have no business owning guns.
Need I go on?
