Jeb Bush worked his way through the dim hallway of an Arizona resort for hours, shuttling from room to room and meeting with dozens of Republican officials, many for the first time. He was in need of a political reset.
For days, he had offered confusing answers to questions about the war in Iraq. He had disappointed Republicans in Iowa, the leadoff state in the nomination chase. And, for a moment, he had forgotten he wasn't yet a 2016 presidential candidate.
Only weeks earlier, donors willing to give millions to put him in the White House were coming to see him at an opulent Miami Beach hotel.
Now it was Bush seeking the private gatherings, on the sidelines of a Republican National Committee meeting.
The former Florida governor was trying to recover from what was undeniably his worst week in politics since announcing he was considering a run for the White House.
"It's the one thing you have to learn in a campaign," said Matt Borges, the Ohio Republican Party chairman, as he emerged from a private session. "How to fall down and get up."
Interviews with dozens of RNC members, Bush donors, early state supporters and strategists show:
concerns with his skills as a campaigner.
unease that his designation as a front-runner has yet to materialize in polls.
worries that while they know the Bush name, they don't yet know this Bush outside of Florida.

Looks like he’s fallen on that canned ham face of his one too many times.....
Matters not to me.
He will nevah! Get my vote.
The establishment is trying to find some kind of cover for their boy.
Viva el presidente Bush, en México no los Estados Unidos.
Interviews with dozens of RNC members, Bush donors, early state supporters and strategists show:
No clue that the base hates Jebster
Worry that he may not get enough illegal alien votes to make up for people voting third party
They’re content to lose, as long as they block a conservative
The guy has a tendency to look walleyed.
He’s looks dumfoundingly clueless at times.
If he’s truly that clueless, ouch!
How did he get to be governor?
Every RINO should be having a tough campaign. Best they get out of the race now so we can run a winner for a change!
LOL, look out folks, this wasn't Bush's fault. His lackluster showing could have been anyone's lackluster showing.
The one thing our Jebbie-Poo will not be able to get is OUR VOTES!!
That’s because the Bush Poo is stuck to him.
Liberal news outlets...ALWAYS the same in their “PUSH” so-called “reporting!”
The AP makes the claim that this particular (liberal GOP politician) stumbling in one area means and or equals ALL GOP will have this trouble. In other words, they are (yet again) NOT honest!
What the RINO’s don’t get is tha they need to get the Conservative in office, keep congress and then work with the new Pres on issues.
They are going about it bass ackwards and the rats won’t give them anything.
As if Hillary has not been avoiding the press. She will be a disaster on the stump and in the debates.
Bush is dead in the water because he has no ideas, and doesn't understand ideas even when they're presented to him. His problem isn't that he's a poor campaigner; it's that he has nothing to campaign on.
His problem isn't bad process or performance. It's that he has no substance.
His problem isn’t that he’s a poor campaigner; it’s that he has nothing to campaign on.
I respectfully disagree, he’s running on Common Core, Amnesty and keeping the Unaffordable Care Act. In other words, he’s running as a Democrat in an R jersey.
When he was in NH in February, Jeb couldn’t answer a question from a
Boston TV reporter (Janet Wu)
He seemed unprepared and too casual.
This lack of preparation has been going on a while. He is either extremely rusty and has not put in the work (e.g. Obama first debate v. Romney),
he doesn’t really want to run or he is bad at the national scene.
Fundamentally, he just thinks his family and his caste are entitled to rule. The "issues" mean nothing to him, or he would not be so careless with them in the first place.
