Dry and a bit warmer than usual. Our snowpack is only 16% of normal, and the governor has just declared a drought emergency because of that.

VARIATIONSCharles Ives (1874-1954) was the man who invented life insurance as a tool of estate planning, and he was one of the founders of Metropolitan Life. His college degree was in music at Yale, and he had a secret life as an organist and composer. It was only in his last years that Leonard Bernstein brought his music public recognition, so he could at least die with a smile on his face. He is regarded today as one of our great composers. A few years ago on Thanksgiving, I programmed his Second Symphony, one of the great American masterpieces. This is Ives take on our patriotic hymn.
One of the variations is bi-tonal, which may still be illegal in some states.

I pray your drought doesn’t last as long as ours did! It was a very long 4 years. The first year of it, we only got 1 inch of rain. Very depressing to say the least. Lawns, trees, bushes, and flowering plants died because we were severely rationed with watering.
Thankfully, I think it’s over. We’ll see.
