A redheaded high school student in England has been banned from classes for being too ginger, the devastated teen said.
Emily Reay, 17, of Cumbria, was scolded by teachers who told her she couldn't come back to the Trinity School in Carlisle until she gets rid of her natural bright auburn locks or "tones it down considerably," according to reports.
"I was very angry at first, and then burst into tears," she told The Telegraph. "I've had the same color for the past three years, and nobody at school has commented on it."
The burgeoning musician's hair, which has hints of orange, had been a "bone of contention" since the beginning of the school year, the news site said. It reportedly falls under the category of "unnatural" hair colors like blue or green.
But the Monday news still stunned the teen, who won an award for best hairstyle during prom.

Therein lies the problem.
The kids LIKED it.
So, if the kids LIKE it, and the adults have a problem with it, just the fact the kids LIKE it makes the adults correct(at least in their mind).
Uh, I don’t think her hair is natural. They must be talking about dyed with natural dye.
Paging Prince Harry....
um... that is not her nature hair color, you can easily tell by her dark brown eyebrows.
One of my sons has hair nearly that color, very close, and it is his natural hair color.
The school needs to lose the Muzzy attitude.
Our youngest is a bright red/orange ginger. Eyebrows & lashes are invisible without enhancements. I’m guessing you know when you are down to your last gallon of sunscreen - she’s the first to let us know.
Long sleeves in summer & big floppy hats, too (along with that gorgeous hair comes the very fair skin & freckling)
You’re right. She did say 3 years. Before that she was platinum blond.
Her hair appears to be an OSHA approved safety color.
My ex is a redhead. Her eyebrows were very dark, unlike the rest.
>>> Lucky that I comb it these days. <<<
Your eyebrows, or your hair?
The article makes no such assertion. What's your source for that?
All those listed colors are clownish. Hopefully Darling Daughter grew out of that phase and is now a productive member of society?
Yeah, it’s obviously fake. But then, I was always a brunette (until I went fake blond) and always had freckles on my arms and face. Might have something to do with being from the northern isles...
The real Ginger!
All I care about is the collar and cuffs match.
I was joking. This is a light thread; why get so het up?
