A redheaded high school student in England has been banned from classes for being too ginger, the devastated teen said.
Emily Reay, 17, of Cumbria, was scolded by teachers who told her she couldn't come back to the Trinity School in Carlisle until she gets rid of her natural bright auburn locks or "tones it down considerably," according to reports.
"I was very angry at first, and then burst into tears," she told The Telegraph. "I've had the same color for the past three years, and nobody at school has commented on it."
The burgeoning musician's hair, which has hints of orange, had been a "bone of contention" since the beginning of the school year, the news site said. It reportedly falls under the category of "unnatural" hair colors like blue or green.
But the Monday news still stunned the teen, who won an award for best hairstyle during prom.

The school banned her for having what it called "unnatural" hair color, even though it was in fact the natural color of her hair.

I read her comments differently. She said she had that color for three years. Maybe her natural hair color is ginger, but she has “enhanced” it to an unnatural shade.

I always check the eye brow color. If it matches - natural...

If that’s her natural hair color she’s dying her eyebrows. And since her eyebrows are a perfectly normal color I think it’s the hair getting the treatment.

Thats natural? You must be a guy.
That cracked me up. :-)
Are you saying that that hair color could not be natural? And yeah, I’m a guy too. I’ve got two grand daughters with hair that color, but both are a single digit age.

She says right there in the article that she’s had that hair “for three months.” And, yes, it’s totally fake. For God’s sake, look at her eyebrows!

Even that statement is unclear. It could mean she had attended the school that many years while sporting that color.
I wouldn’t see a problem with a school making an exception for documented natural colors that are unusual. Like if an albino attended. This is not on the deliberate level of transwhatever.

There isn’t anything wrong with it but England has a problem with gingers being horribly bullied (it’s catching on here). I don’t understand it because I adore natural red hair.

She may be a natural redhead, but she’s not naturally THAT colour.
