A redheaded high school student in England has been banned from classes for being too ginger, the devastated teen said.
Emily Reay, 17, of Cumbria, was scolded by teachers who told her she couldn't come back to the Trinity School in Carlisle until she gets rid of her natural bright auburn locks or "tones it down considerably," according to reports.
"I was very angry at first, and then burst into tears," she told The Telegraph. "I've had the same color for the past three years, and nobody at school has commented on it."
The burgeoning musician's hair, which has hints of orange, had been a "bone of contention" since the beginning of the school year, the news site said. It reportedly falls under the category of "unnatural" hair colors like blue or green.
But the Monday news still stunned the teen, who won an award for best hairstyle during prom.

months? years (and that could mean, years in that school)
2) There's another way to check.
3) Back in college, I dated a girl with hair that color, but hers was wavy. And real.
Redheads process souls like humans process regular food.
Accept it ;)
At this point, what difference does it make?
“...gingers being horribly bullied “
thats a bit bizarre.
It’s not just in Britain, in Greece red hair is considered evil.
The current theory is that this is a very old European prejudice dating to when most folks sporting ginger locks were Neanderthals, since the Neanderthal genome seems to code for red hair.
I'm a guy, so I don't do ANYTHING to either. Lucky that I comb it these days.

“There isnt anything wrong with it but England has a problem with gingers being horribly bullied (its catching on here)”
When I was a kid, bullying was reserved only for redheads unfortunate enough to be named Rusty.
Nowadays they don't leave you anything to check with.
Weird manifestation of latent pedophilia, seems to me.
It must be natural. It matches the tattoo on her hand.
Ha! That’s terrific.
I could have sworn it said “raghead”.
The Scots and Irish have an abundance of red heads. Maybe that is why.
Thanks for the update! It just shows how we are sinking into dark times and superstition. One of the greatest queens, Elizabeth, had striking red hair. And so does Prince Harry. On the recent television show “Wolf Hall,” a baby Queen Elizabeth I showed up with the most wonderful red hair I’ve ever seen. To think that baby “actress” will grow up to be bullied saddens me.
The eyebrow test is bogus. Many women routinely use eyebrow pencils, especially if their brows are too light to see. I’m a ginger, and I do the same, but use more of a natural “ginger hue.”
Having said that, it does look like a fake color. Most natural hair has a combination of several different hues and highlights. Gingers’ hair also tend to lighten with the sun, so in the summer the top layers are a bit lighter than the under layers. I call that fake simply because it’s so monochrome.
"I've had the same color for the past three years, and nobody at school has commented on it." ...sort of gives it away.
When I look at her face I see a sad and confused young person.
Where’s dad?
Yeah, just as I thought.
I give up. If you think that mop is natural, you’re a...guy.
