Ben Carson has surged into the top tier of GOP presidential candidates in a Fox News poll released Thursday, tying former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for the No. 1 slot.
The poll shows Carson and Bush in the lead with 13 percent support each. Thats a 7 percentage-point jump for Carson, who was tied for sixth place in the same poll in April.
Carsons jump comes on the heels of his presidential announcement two weeks ago in Detroit. His campaign immediately sought to fundraise off the poll, boasting of the more than 100,000 donations it has collected in recent weeks.
Carson has a strong favorability rating, with 26 percent viewing him positively against 16 percent negative, but he remains relatively unknown. Forty-nine percent said they had never heard of him. Only businesswoman Carly Fiorina and Ohio Gov. John Kasich have worse name ID.
The poll is also good news for Bush, who sat in fourth place with 9 percent support in April.
While Bushs poll numbers are lagging in the first-in-the-nation caucus state of Iowa, which many believe to be a reflection of his problems with the base, he continues to poll well nationwide. Bush leads the field nationally, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, with 15.4 percent support.
Still, the Fox News poll shows hes underwater on favorability, with 37 percent saying they have a positive view of him, against 44 percent negative.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker sits alone at third place in the Fox News poll with 11 percent support, followed by former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 10 percent, Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) at 7 percent and Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 6 percent each.

Where is this phantom Carson support coming from? Are they (the MSM) trying to build him up because his lack of experience will make him easier to tear down?
Something like that.
This is bogus. Even Fox has an agenda in getting ratings for propping up candidates that are not ready for primetime-——entertainment! The Fox polls have been notoriously inaccurate too. The final one in the midterm elections had dems tied with the GOP. This is all HOGWASH.
Yes. They like talking about Carson so they pimp Carson and even their serious polls are often way wrong.
It would be one thing if they had Rubio up there. I know a lot of primary voters that have fallen for his charm. I have yet to come across anyone that supports Carson. Not to say they aren’t out there, but I really can’t believe the guy is tied for the lead.
Ugh. This is starting to remind me of the 2012 “flavor of the week” primary season.
Doesn’t surprise me in the least. Isn’t he the most recent candidate to announce. All candidates get that jump for a bit and then reality sets in again after a while.
The RNC will use some designated polling thresholds to determine who is included and excluded from the debates. Fox polls especially should be assumed to skew at the bidding of the RNC.

And FOX News is the host of the first debate later this summer.
Fox News is part of The Ministry Of Propaganda. They are working for The Cheap Labor Express to get an amnesty candidate for the RNC/GOP.
Bush and Rubio are the preferred candidates, but pushing others such as Carson and Huckabee serves the purpose of scattering conservative votes to enable the nomination of bush or Rubio.
Fox in full Karl Rove mode.
Maybe, but they will somehow find a way to make sure Santorum is included so he can viciously assault everyone except Jebbie.
Pretty much explains why PeRINO has been elevated to a higher exposure and prominence on The 5...She’s in the Bushes with Jeb.
uh oh
A FoxNews poll just a couple of days ago had Bush and Huckabee tied at about #6 and Carson was less than that.
Yeah, these polls are bogus. Look around and you can find a poll that has whomever you want as the leader.
None of these polls really mean anything until (1) the wannabe actually announces and (2) the primary votes start.
I thought it was The Huckster.
Sure wish the Fox News Babes would get their story right.
The ONLY thing the Fox News Babes need to get right is their wardrobe.
The man has integrity. And it shows. Of the politicians, Scott Walker has an everyman quality that people like. But, as they say.,time will tell. The amazing thing to me is how deep our field is.
