Dillard University‘s 218 members of the Class of 2015 received a special treat in addition to their diplomas — Academy and Tony Award-winning actor Denzel Washington to deliver the keynote commencement address. And in contrast to the whiney, racial and excuse-driven address delivered by first lady Michelle Obama at another historically black university, Washington’s was filled of hope, humor, inspiration and love of his creator. “No. 1,” he resolutely told the graduates of the New Orleans university, “Put. God. First!”

Say ‘thank you’ in advance for what’s already yours.... He is a Christian. His father was a preacher, and he has considered being one too. He says he reads the Bible daily. He has been married to his first for years. He has visited Israel, and supports the troops. He is an Independent voter, although he admitted for voting for Obama in 2008.
I read about him a long time ago as he is one of my favorite actors.

He is an Independent voter and did vote for Obama in 2008, haven’t seen about 2012. I agree it’s hard to understand, but some Christians do vote for Democrats. Most of them tell me they don’t mix politics and religion.

One of my black friends on twitter tells me that she voted for Obama in 08 because she got caught up in the hype of it. She didn’t love Romney but voted for him in 2012.

I had a black friend I worked with in CA, big Democrat, that voted for Bush in 2004 because some Dems (I think Charlie Rangel) wanted to bring back the draft. Of course they (Dems)thought if would help them, but it backfired. She asked me not to disclose her secret.
I’ve had several gay friends that vote Republican because they don’t like paying high taxes, but they don’t want it to be known either.

Have seen him doing ads for the Big Brothers Big Sisters project for years - just his demeanor in those ads always suggested he was one of the good guys to me.....
