California Gov. Jerry Brown had some sharp words for environmentalist critics of his proposed Sacramento River water tunnels.
On Wednesday, Brown told critics of his $15 billion plan to shut up, because you dont know what the hell youre talking about, according to the AP.
Browns office told Sacramento Bee blog Capitol Alert that the governors remarks were made in jest. But the sharp rebuke highlights the tension surrounding the pricey project, which would send water from the northern part of the state south by using a pair of underground water tunnels to divert water around the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta.
The Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP) has been under development for the last eight years, according to the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat. Brown wants to use the tunnels to stabilize the water supply for the millions of farmers and residents south of the Delta.
But the project has come under fire from California environmental groups, who say the tunnels are not environmentally sustainable. Brown, who was forced to substantially reduce the amount of habitat restoration involved in the project, said hes put a million hours into poring over every aspect of it.
We will not go away, and we will not shut up, Restore the Delta executive director Barbara Barrigan-Parilla said in a statement, adding that Brown has his fingers in his ears and will not listen to criticism of the project.

15 billion to union workers. They will shut up the opposition by hook or crook
Lefty fights are downright heart warming.
If it’s Brown ... FLUSH IT
Much like NYC and DeBlasio, California got the government they deserved.
Jerry Brown.
The world’s foremost expert on not knowing what he is talking about.
This water fight is to protect to cash cows to greedy politicians in Sacramento.
Most of the use and outright waste of water is not due to human consumers. The water goes to two specific cash crops that Californians receive little benefit for and are responsible for the water shortage in the state. Billions of gallons of water go to grow Almonds and Alfalfa.
The vast majority of the almonds are sold to Asia. The alfalfa is sold to Saudi Arabia to feed their camels and race horses. To cover for the use of the water, the politicians who have been bought and paid for blow a lot of smoke about conservation, force cities to pay huge fines for their everyday human use of water and now are pushing rationing.
Even if humans cut their own use of water in the state by 25%, it would amount to less than 3% of the state's water use. This is a huge SCAM.
LOL...blue on blue.....love it.
Thank you for a most detailed explanation on this project. I believe you for 2 reasons
1) You have earned my trust.
2) The scam now makes TOTAL sense.
These people belong in prison, not just removed from office.
Neither of them would know what sustainable is if it bit them in the behind.
Instead of spending the 15 billion on another MOON BEAM project, that money should be going towards de-salinating plants up and down southern California. The California will have unlimited amount of water.
Explain to me about the 2/3rds of all the truck farm crops and table vegtables that WERE produced by San Joaquin and Imperial Valley ranches. As a formed resident of the Big Valley I will assure you it’s not all almonds being grown there.
The agricultural valleys of California are of STRATEGIC importance to the USA, or would you rather rely on the 3rd world hell hole of Argentina for our produce so once they have a monopoly market (like China) on our food we can be held hostage to them.
It’s exceedingly rare I agree with any California politician but I will take water for agriculture over desalination to support the lifestyles of 10 million illegals and 20 million moonbats any day.

Calm down, jerry. Your project is a worthless white elephant.
