Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren Scolds Pamela Geller
By Erik Wemple May 6 Before embarking on a television career, Fox News host Greta Van Susteren worked as a highly successful trial attorney. She graduated from Georgetown Law, represented clients in federal and state venues and picked up her share of accolades along the way.
And last night she ditched her legal-eagle sophistication in a monologue criticizing activist Pamela Geller for putting the lives of police officers on the line at an event Sunday in Garland, Texas. “Everyone knew this event would unglue some who might become violent,” said Van Susteren.
In a story that has resurrected a fierce debate on the First Amendment, two gunmen on Sunday were killed by police after they descended on the Geller-organized event showcasing cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. The Islamic State terror group has claimed responsibility for the attack and U.S. officials are investigating any possible link. Geller is president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative (AFDI), a group that bills itself as a protector of U.S. constitutional freedoms but that the Southern Poverty Law Center calls an “active anti-Muslim group.” Muslims consider depictions of the prophet offensive. In January, terrorists carried out a massacre at the Paris offices of Charlie Hebdo magazine, which had repeatedly satirized Muhammad.
So Van Susteren scolded Geller for holding the cartoon contest. “My message is simple — protect our police. Do not recklessly lure them into danger and that is what happened in Garland, Texas at the Mohammed cartoon contest,” she said. “Yes, of course, there’s a First Amendment right and it’s very important, but the exercise of that right includes using good judgment.”
In other words, watch what you say, or draw.

About dogs and muslims (the “peaceful ones).
I was visiting my kindly neighbor in my senior living building. Her next door neighbor sent her muslim woman helper over to ask for help with a frozen food package that needed to be microwaved.
The muslim woman, scared, etc, refused to come into the apartment, as she was afraid, or refused to be in the same room with my little 10 lb. Havanese dog.
We told her he was shy, and wouldn’t come near her, but she was adamant. This is what we are dealing with!
Unfortunately, I live in a relatively safe suburb of the twin cities (MN), but the muslims are everywhere.
Ridiculous, if you ask me. And we have to be “tolerant” of their “religion”.
If you people would take the time to understand the Eight Dynamics of Scientology you still wouldn’t understand, cause most people DONT!
She sure does. But as I'm sure you'll agree, this is different than most. This nation's reaction to the Geller event will set a precedence, a pattern for the future.
If the majority ends up supporting Geller, then free speech still has a chance in America.
But if people like Greta, Trump, etc. turn the nation against Geller, then free speech is done in America. The Muslims will press for more and more restrictions, and complain about more and more "insults". The tail will wag the dog.

We're not supposed to be just "tolerant" of Islam. We are supposed to adjust our behavior so as not to offend them in any way.
I read a story out of Canada about a father who wanted to see his high school daughter compete at a school swim meet. He was denied entrance. Why? Because a Muslim thought it was improper for males to watch females swim. The father was sent home.
Greta and her chichi liberal friends have jumped the shark when it comes to the Garland jihadi attack.

So k Greta. We civilians will,show up to protect Pam. No police needed. Just don’t get in the way of our second amendment rights. BTW we will also be able to protect you at malls, theaters, restaurants, offices, schools, you know the places the rag hats like to murder innocents. One more thing, get off your knees Greta, it is not becoming for a free American to bow down to such murders and it is not worthy of our American heritage.
She might as well say “Protect our police. Don’t let them guard controversial politicians or celebrities who may draw the fire of extremist nut jobs”
Tell her. Tell her she needs to veil her face lest she provokes you violence. To show your sincerity, send her a veil.

Does she make the same argument for sending troops to nation build in areas where the population wants them to go to hell and is more than happy to assist?

It is my understanding that the security contingent at the event was paid for by the event organizers. They were not arbitrarily called in to a violent situation caused by the event. Greta was just looking for another angle to the story and failed miserably.
Greta needs to wear a burka, showing herself uncovered is an insult to muslims...what...if one is going to submit to islam on speech then might as submit on other issues as well.
