Hercules has been crushed because of a selfie!
A couple of tourists are in hot water after climbing onto a priceless marble statue of the mythical Greek hero in the northern city of Cremona, Italy, the Daily Mail reported.
The miscreants put too much weight on the statue at the Loggia dei Militi palace during their boneheaded bid to snap a photo of themselves shattering the crown of the Statue of the Two Hercules.

So where’s the selfie?
“See what I can do when you don’t furnish me a scratching post?!?”
Idiots with no respect for history.
Haha....
Stupid selfie culture. Look at me! Look at me!
(The stupid, it burns!)
Combined PING! and DANG!
Man, those are some nasty creatures roaming around there... I really wonder how they can all survive with that many cats in so small of an area.
its a disease!! Low level narcism!
LOL!
Which reminds me: Where’s Clarence Boddicker when we really need him?
That’s exactly my reaction. Just love those kitties.
Thanks for the ____!
Have to wonder who the bigger idiots are: those who climbed on it; or those that didn’t take precautions to prevent idiots from climbing on it.
Maybe the climbing idiots will sue the displaying idiots for not warning them that it was dangerous to climb upon the “attractive nuisance.”
Why might he? You know scriptures and God’s standards as well as anyone! God also knows the heart of Michaelangelo and also the philosophies influencing the artists of his times. David is also depicted as a naked UNCIRCUMCISED male...even if God would have tolerated the nudity, David was Hebrew and would have been circumcised! The statue itself was intended to stand as a symbol of Florentine city state independence from the influences of Rome.
It’s all going to crumble...
My questions are rhetorical. I’m not advocating that a new art based antitemperance league be formed to go around smashing art. Yet I see a lot of articles about various Islamic groups smashing statues as being noxious (and they are) or I see articles like this one about dumb tourists being dumb. It is hard for me to get worked up about some venus getting smashed or a Hercules losing his stone crown...these were depictions of false Gods....it’s all going to crumble as God establishes his kingdom on Earth and Christ rules out of Jerusalem.
So a thought and heart experiment....think of the Risen Christ with nail prints in his extremities standing next to various famous works of sculpture or famous but rather lewd paintings. (things we consider “classic works” of art) Think of what the Bible says about each person’s works being tried by fire...
What would you do if Christ asks of you... “Do you really see me as countenancing this work of art...or this statue?” Again it is all rhetorical...and God works in all his children in different ways so for some the question may not yet be relevant to an individual believer at the same time as it would for another.
Think of what the Bible OT passages say of the far future when Christ rules on the Earth, of what life will be like, of what will be allowed, of the pure language all men will speak, of the knowledge of the glory of the Lord that will cover the Earth that will be evident to all(no more will one say to another “know the Lord”!). Then ask yourself again, why would God tolerate a nude oversized statue of an uncircumsized male with a then fashionable Roman style haircut and aquiline nose dressed only with the fig leaf name of David!
Well, there’s accidental stupidity and intentional stupidity...
The Commandments tell us not to make them, the rest of the Bible right through Revelation tells us what God will do to idols and those who make and worship them. You have misquoted me.
as for the commandments in question:1.Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2.Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
Verse 2 does list one thing God does to those who make graven images to “bow down and serve them”.
I have misquoted what again?
Maybe they were ISIS sympathizers?..........................
Our generation is heavier...
