Authorities have identified one of the suspected gunmen who attacked an event in Dallas on cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad, US media say.
The FBI named him as Elton Simpson, who had been previously investigated on suspicion of terrorism offences, several reports said.
Agents were searching an apartment in Phoenix, Arizona, where Simpson reportedly lived, an FBI official said.
Two gunmen were shot dead after opening fire outside Sunday's event.
They drove to the Muhammad Art Exhibit in the Dallas suburb of Garland as the event was ending, firing with assault rifles on two officers in a parking lot.
One of the officers, a traffic policeman, returned fire and killed both the gunmen, Garland police official Joe Harn said. The security officer who with him was shot in the lower leg. He was treated in hospital and then released.

Well I’ll be...the dude looks like the stereotypical person you would suspect of such behavior.
Maybe we should increase our vigilance regarding similar individuals, in the hope that we could prevent destruction and death before it occurs.
We could create “profiles” of similar suspects, and keep an eye on them. What? That’s “Profiling” and we can’t do that. Too bad, sounds like common sense to me.

It begins. The left will blame the contest for this and not the subhuman reptile-brain ideology that inspired it.

I was just over at DummyU. And of course there are a number of Dummies who are upset with Geller for
inciting the poor Muslim fanatics who had no choice but to try and shoot up the event.
However, there were even more than a few Dummies who saw the hypocrisy in the left's refusal to criticize Islam while slamming Christianity at every opportunity.
Many on the left want to have it both ways...they think (rightly so) they have the right to hammer Christians. But nobody should be able to criticize Muslims.
It's all mysterious to me given the left's hatred of all religions. They hate all religions, but they choose to ally with the most violent religion on the planet. Then they criticize other people who hammer violent Islam. Which is why most leftists are illogical nutjobs.
