The Space and Science Research Corporation (SSRC) announces today that the predicted new cold climate will soon begin to end the historic era of growth in US and global agricultural output that began after the end of World War II. Specifically, as a result of recent events on the Sun and changes in the Earth's climate, the SSRC again warns that record crop yields and volume in the US and Canadian corn, wheat, and soybean belts are about to end. The SSRC expects the first substantial damage could be observed at any time but certainly within the next ten years.
This new announcement is based on a well researched set of new climate trends of oceanic and atmospheric temperatures, and solar activity.

So now they will have to make up another excuse to take our money.
Its always about the money, always.
It doesn’t matter what the weather does.
Any change will be it “getting worse” and it’s always mankind’s fault.
The only solution will be more taxes and government control.

Could a 1.2 degree drop in global temperatures cause a 21% drop in grain production....

SSRC is just one guy AFAIK.
Not saying the solar cooling idea is wrong, this is certainly not the only source for that (WUWT has had plenty of coverage of solar cycle predictions).
So take with a heap of salt.
I think the worry is, among others, that the reduced outputs from the grain regions of the US, Canada, Argentina, Russia, China, India can’t easily be replaced.
Even if it can be replaced the geo-political turmoil would likely be severe.

Yep. Relying too heavily on long term “cycles” is a fools errand.
People can say we’re due for another ice age or Yellowstone eruption but there’s really no way of knowing.. Those are things that started at a certain point in the past, went on with some regularity and may quit as suddenly as they started.
Live every day as if you have a 9 AM appointment with your maker and don’t worry about it.
So that means we will eat more potatoes or what?
A good case can be made that since the end of the Medieval Warm Period about 700 years ago the Earth's climate has been trending cooler with just a couple of brief warming trends, the second of which may have just ended.
Taters and greens.
