Depending on whom you ask, Jade Helm 15 is either a domestic military training exercise or a covert operation for the federal government to take over the state of Texas and 2016 presidential candidate Ted Cruz just became the latest Republican to fan the flames of the latter theory.
Speaking at the South Carolina Republican Partys annual convention Saturday, the Texas senator told Bloombergs David Weigel that his office had contacted the Pentagon about the exercise, which officially consists of a series of training drills throughout the Southwest for about 1,200 special operations personnel, including Green Berets and Navy SEALs. Conspiracy theorists operating on the fringes of the conservative blogosphere, however, have other ideas about what the exercise, known as Jade Helm 15, is intended to do such as implement martial law, seize Americans guns, and imprison political dissidents.
Rather than squash those theories outright, Cruz apparently decided it was better to be safe than sorry.
My office has reached out to the Pentagon to inquire about this exercise, he said. We are assured it is a military training exercise. I have no reason to doubt those assurances, but I understand the reason for concern and uncertainty, because when the federal government has not demonstrated itself to be trustworthy in this administration, the natural consequence is that many citizens dont trust what it is saying.(continued)

He just lost my vote.
If he believes he’s a nut.
If he doesn’t believe it, but asked to make the wing nuts feel better he is a pander-bear.
Finally, if he expected any answer other than the one he got—he’s an idiot.
This whole JH thing is an embarrassment to the right. What are y’all gonna do when you wake up and realize the riechstagg is not on fire?
Anyone who thinks that 1,200 special operations personnel can take over Texas reads too many comicbooks.
One GOOD man is needed to lead. I would follow. CRUZ!!!!
Well, Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) seems to believe it and has the Texas National Guard watching them.
How many people were needed for the 1993 WTC bombing?
I have a brother who lives in Big Spring Texas where this is taking place. He says it is scaring the sh!t out of people.
They are walking the streets and neighborhoods at night, setting off explosives, yelling, screaming. etc.
Ya know, people in Texas have lots of guns, lots. Maybe they should think about THAT for a moment.
And yet FR has a significant contingent of people bound and determined to make sure he’s eliminated in the primaries.
I wonder why.
Did he ever have your support to begin with, or are you just saying that.
Speaking of nuts, Coming from a guy that sals Palin’s family a bunch of drunks a couple months back, that is probably to his benefit.
“What are yall gonna do when you wake up and realize the riechstagg is not on fire?”
It will eventually be set on fire. Wisdom in this regard means discernment in assessing when that is a high probability.
Take over Texas no, be a severe nuisance to it yes.
Sounds to me like he never really had your vote in the first place.
But, perhaps your better instincts will kick in again.
“sals”?
